Total Bellas: Nikki Finally Congratulates John Cena After His Wedding
Nikki Bella from Total Bellas recently wished her ex-fiancé John Cena well, several weeks after he married Shay Shariatzadeh.
She and John began dating in 2012 after meeting due to their wrestling careers. They became engaged five years later but broke it off one month before their wedding. Since then, John has married and Nikki has gotten engaged. She also had a child with her fiancé, who is Dancing with the Stars professional dancer, Artem Chigvintsev.
The new mom recently sat down with Lisa Vanderpump on her new podcast, "All Things Vanderpump", reports E! Online. One fan submitted a question about whether or not she congratulated her ex on his secret wedding in October. “I haven’t … but yeah, I didn’t,” the former wrestler admitted. “Are there rules? Am I supposed to? Should I send flowers?" The RHOBH alum and restauranteur then advised the 37-year-old to send John a sweet note congratulating him on his wedding. “John, congratulations on your wedding. I’m very, very happy for you,” Nikki suggested. The reality star was then asked about what led to the demise of her relationship. She said the former couple wanted different things for their future. “I really wanted to be a mom and he didn’t want to be a father. But then in the end, he was like, ‘Look, I will give you a kid,’ but I knew deep down in his heart it’s not what he wanted,” she admitted. Nikki did not want John resenting her in the end, so she decided to break up. She felt it was the responsible thing to do.
Nikki did reveal last month that John reached out to her after she gave birth to her son, Matteo. “He reached out to Brie and I both,” she told the publication. "It was very short and sweet!” The reality star welcomed her son in July with her fiance, DWTS winner Artem. She and Artem began dating in January 2019, almost two years after they met on the set of Dancing with the Stars. The couple became engaged ten months later and announced their Total Bellas pregnancy in January 2020.
Even though Nikki and John both live separate lives, they are tied to each other forever as a result of their very public, six-year relationship. “I get that, like, we had a public relationship on a reality show for six years. All I’ve ever wanted was for him to be happy," she revealed. "So, it makes me happy when I see that and, like, him kicking butt in the movie world and all that stuff. I love that!” While they no longer speak, it is nice to know that Nikki Bella and John both respect each other and enjoy their new and separate lives.
