Monster Hunter Rise: Everything Included In Massive 2022 Expansion

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is an upcoming expansion for Monster Hunter Rise. Capcom has kept quiet about the content that will be included in Sunbreak, but a new trailer that was shown during The Game Awards has given a look at what players can expect in the game. Sunbreak is set to launch in Summer 2022 and it will be released for both the Nintendo Switch and PC versions of Monster Hunter Rise at the same time.

Monster Hunter Rise debuted as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, but it will be arriving on PC in January. The game is set within Kamura Village, which is soon threatened by a horde of rampaging monsters. The player takes on the role of a hunter who must seek out and slay monsters that pose a threat to the village. Monster Hunter Rise introduced Rampage missions, where the player must work alongside residents of Kamura Village and fight off hordes of monsters with the aid of powerful turret-style weapons.

Monster Hunter Rise has received free content updates since its launch, including collaborations with Capcom franchises like Okami and Street FighterSunbreak is being promoted as a massive paid expansion for Monster Hunter Rise, which will have more content than the free updates. Fans have speculated that it will add G-Rank hunts to the game, which is a recurring part of the series. The G-Rank missions are the hardest in the game, but they also provide the best loot, which is why many fans rush to reach it as soon as possible. It's a safe bet that Sunbreak will add G-Rank content to Monster Hunter Rise, but what else is the expansion adding?

The official website for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has confirmed that the DLC will add three monsters: Malzeno, Lunagaron, and Shogun Ceanataur. Malzeno is a dragon with dark scales and red feathers, which was featured prominently in the first trailer for Sunbreak. Lunagaron is an ice-themed monster that resembles Zinogre, which debuted in the trailer for Sunbreak at The Game Awards. Shogun Ceanataur is a massive crab-like monster that debuted in Monster Hunter 2 and has appeared in several other entries in the series. Sunbreak will add more monsters, which will have their own associated weapons and gear.

The trailer for Sunbreak at The Game Awards (which can be seen on the official Nintendo YouTube channel and is embedded below) has revealed information about the story in the DLC. The trailer prominently featured a character named Rodine, who is a merchant that the player can trade with in Monster Hunter Rise. Rodine hailed from an unnamed foreign land and her fine clothing made her stand out from the residents of Kamura Village. She is seen fighting Lunagaron with a rapier and refers to the battle as a "royal matter", suggesting she is a member of the nobility or is closely associated with them.

The Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak trailer ends with Rodine traveling to a port city named Elgado, which she describes as an outpost. The information in the trailer suggests that Lunagaron's presence prompts Rodine to bring the protagonist to Elgado, which will be the new hub town for the content in Sunbreak. The trailer also revealed that three new Monster Hunter Rise amiibo were on the way, with one based on Malzeno, and two featuring a Palamute and a Palico, which are wearing Malzeno gear.
