KUWTK: Travis Barker Flies on Plane for First Time Since 2008 Crash
Former Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Kourtney Kardashian and boyfriend Travis Barker took their relationship to new heights on Saturday, flying together for the first time since Barker was involved in a tragic plane crash 14 years ago. The Blink-182 drummer vowed to ‘never fly again’ after a 2008 aviation incident, which resulted in the death of his two close friends, Charles ‘Che’ Still and Chris Baker, in addition to the two aircraft pilots. The accident left Barker with third-degree burns on 65% of his body. The only other survivor of the crash, DJ AM, died a year later of drug overdose.
The Poosh founder and her pop-punk beau were headed to Cabo for vacation, along with momager Kris Jenner and her partner, Corey Gamble. The flight was delayed, however, when Barker was an hour late for takeoff. While it is unclear whether his tardiness was a result of cold feet, ultimately, the group made the journey safely, landing in Mexico on Saturday evening.
As reported in TMZ, Barker’s fear of flying predated the fateful 2008 crash. Before boarding the jet, which was set to take the crew from South Carolina back to California, the drummer called his dad to say he had a bad feeling about the flight. After surviving the crash, which was the result of the aircraft tires blowing during takeoff, Barker spent months in a trauma unit for burn victims, undergoing multiple surgeries and skin grafts.
Barker’s reluctance to take to the skies again is understandable, and despite vowing to avoid air travel, girlfriend and former KUWTK star Kourtney seemed to alleviate some anxiety about giving flying another chance. Camera crews captured the group boarding Kylie Jenner’s private jet in Los Angeles, the couple holding hands on the tarmac. The duo were also photographed arriving in Cabo, luggage in tow, Travis wearing a beanie and Kourtney looking casual but sophisticated in a silky black slip dress with dark sunglasses.
Though Keeping Up with The Kardashians came to an end in June after 20 seasons, there is no escaping updates about the KarJenner clan. Kourtney and Travis are no exception, and have readily documented their blossoming relationship on social media, with fans dubbing the duo ‘Kravis.’ In the wake of the shocking public divorce of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, fans are eager to fill the ‘Kimye’ shaped hole in their hearts with the wholesome couple and have fallen head-over-heels for the unlikely pair.
