Ben Safdie Joins Paul Thomas Anderson’s Next
“Good Time” co-director and co-star Benny Safdie apparently has a role in filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming feature which has been going by the working title “Soggy Bottom”.
Currently shooting, the feature is set in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley in the 1970s and centers on a high school student who is also a child actor. Bradley Cooper stars as something of a Jon Peters-inspired mentor figure to the child and up until now he’s has been the only actor confirmed for the film aside from Alana Haim from the band Haim.
Set photos just released from Just Jared (via The Film Stage) however show posters featuring Benny Safdie who appears to be playing a character inspired by Joel Wachs, the long-running civil servant who served on the Los Angeles City Council for over thirty years and was known for his support and advocacy of the arts, gay rights and rent control.
Anderson’s film is expected to continue shooting in and around Los Angeles over coming weeks.
