Insecure
HBO has renewed its Issa Rae-led comedy series “Insecure” for a fifth season, the renewal coming just weeks after the series debuted its ten-episode fourth season on April 12th. The story explores the black female experience and follows the friendship of two black women as they deal with their own real-life flaws while attempting to navigate different worlds and cope with an endless series of uncomfortable everyday experiences. The Eddy
Netflix has released both a behind-the-scenes featurette and a clip from Damien Chazelle’s upcoming France-set eight-episode musical drama series “The Eddy” starring Andre Holland and Amandla Stenberg. The series will be available for streaming on the service from next Friday (May 8th).
Once a celebrated jazz pianist in New York, Elliot Udo (Andre Holland) is now the co-owner of struggling Parisian club The Eddy, where he manages the house band fronted by lead singer and on-again-off-again girlfriend Maja (Joanna Kulig). As Elliot learns that his business partner Farid (Tahar Rahim) may be involved in some questionable practices, secrets begin to come to light. Melissa George, Tcheky Karyo and Sopico co-star.
NOS4A2
AMC has released official second season teasers for the supernatural horror series starring Zachary Quinto. The show returns with two back-to-back episodes on Sunday, June 21st. The story picks up eight years later as Vic McQueen (Ashleigh Cummings) remains more determined than ever to destroy Charlie Manx (Zachary Quinto). Charlie, having faced his own mortality, emerges desperate for revenge and sets his sights on Charlie’s eight-year-old son Wayne.
Good Omens
On the 30th anniversary of the original publication of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s “Good Omens,” the two stars of BBC and Amazon Prime’s mini-series adaptation – Michael Sheen and David Tennant – have reprised their roles (in voice form) for a new video. Written by Gaiman and directed by Douglas Mackinnon, the video features the angel Aziraphale (Sheen) and the demon Crowley (Tennant) chatting on the phone during the quarantine. The full “Good Omens” six-part limited series is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
Parks and Rec
A day after the surprise reunion episode of beloved NBC sitcom “Parks and Recreation” aired on NBC, the network has released the full special onto YouTube for free – showing off the return of everybody’s favorite characters from Pawnee, Indiana. The 30-minute special, filmed from each of the stars’ homes, will center on Leslie as she is determined to stay connected to her friends in a time of social distancing while also looking to raise funds for Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund.
