Children Of The Corn 2023’s Strange Release Is A Bad Sign For The Franchise

After three years of release date delays, Children of the Corn’s reboot is getting a brief theater release immediately followed by a VOD in a dispiriting sign for the series. When the name Stephen King comes up in conversation, fans of genre cinema are likely to think of characters like Jack Torrance and Pennywise the Dancing Clown. However, the most successful Stephen King franchise (in terms of sequels, reboots, and remakes, at least) is actually one of the author’s lesser-known properties. Not only is this series not a blockbuster success, but the franchise is also pretty universally abhorred by critics.
