Scarlet Witch Art Casts the Olsen Twins as Wanda Variants

Unlike the variants of Wanda seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness played by Elizabeth Olsen, some fantastic fanart imagines Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen as variants of the Scarlet Witch. The Olsen twins are two of the most famous child stars to date, gaining their fame for their work on Full House. Both actors took a step back from the limelight over a decade ago as they switched focus to their co-founded fashion brand The Row. However, the Olsen household didn’t go long without a performer as their younger sister Elizabeth soon took up acting from where the twins left off. Elizabeth Olsen is most known for playing Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Wanda Maximoff most recently appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness where she cemented her title as the Scarlet Witch. After she lost her sons (Billy and Tommy) and her reanimated husband in Wandavision, Wanda looked across the multiverse and was taunted by myriads of her happy selves with children she no longer had. In a “reasonable” attempt to relocate herself to one of these universes, Wanda sought out America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) to steal her powers, and consequently kill America, in order to cross the multiverse.

While each Wanda variant in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen, samuel_cheve imagines what it would be like to see the actor’s sisters play versions of the Scarlet Witch. The poster incorporates familiar Multiverse of Madness imagery centering the MCU’s Scarlet Witch with two variants at her side, pictured as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, surrounded by Wanda’s ineffable glowing red powers. Just one Scarlet Witch proved to be an extremely difficult challenge, so with “the power of 3,” they could likely do unspeakable damage. Check out the poster below:

Marvel has explored the idea of alternate selves in some of its recent projects. The Disney+ Loki series was the first MCU project to dip into the idea of variants as Tom Hiddleston’s Loki is tasked with finding one of his alternate selves when he runs into Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino). Spider-Man: No Way Home furthered this exploration with the inclusion of other universe's Peter Parkers played by previous Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

616 Wanda crumbled the top of Mount Wundagore with herself still inside at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as she was disgusted by her actions. Usually, this would undoubtedly lead to a person’s death, but with the magic of the MCU, the character’s future is left a bit more unclear. Looking at some of Marvel’s latest projects, it’s presumed that the franchise will continue to venture further out into the multiverse, especially now that America Chavez has better control of her powers. As the Olsen Twins are now retired from acting it’s unlikely that the pair will appear in the franchise, but following Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there is a door open for another, or several, Scarlet Witches to show up in the future.
