Reasons Why The Kardashians Isn't As Good As KUWTK | Screen Rant
Many fans of The Kardashians argue that Keeping Up With The Kardashians is still superior to the new Hulu show. The reality tv family announced the final season of KUWTK in 2021 after a 14-year-run amounting to 20 seasons and multiple spin-offs. Fans watched the Kardashian clan grow their families and careers over the years. Although KUWTK coming to an end seemed fitting at the time, fans were not ready to let go yet and were ecstatic when the new show, The Kardashians, was announced.
The Kardashian-Jenner family promised a better show, where they are more open and vulnerable than before. The reality stars also assured fans they would not to hold back when confronted about controversial stories and show a side of them the fans have never seen before. However, when the show premiered, it was evident that there wasn't anything new or remarkably different compared to KUWTK. Aside from the show being more aesthetically pleasing, with a few production changes, the premise is more or less the same.
So far the show has failed to deliver on being new and refreshing. The first storyline tackled was Kim’s sex tape, which was already addressed in KUWTK fifteen years ago, and has now been exhausted. There are also allegations that Kim orchestrated the storyline about the second sex tape in order to make herself the focus of the show again. It also does not help that Ray J came out to say that what transpired in The Kardashians was all a lie. The show has also been off to a slow start as most fans feel like they are dragging out the storyline about Kim’s sex tape and her Saturday Night Live performance which has played out through four episodes.
The Kardashians have also been in the spotlight lately for all the wrong reasons, which has seen them lose popularity with fans. Kim’s comment on women’s work ethic rubbed The Kardashians fans the wrong way. Not only did her advice seem conceited but soon after, former employees of the Kardashians came forward with startling allegations of being overworked and underpaid, which they have yet to address. Kim has also gotten a lot of heat for photoshopping True’s face onto Stormi’s and is currently facing backlash for wearing Marilyn Monroe's dress to the 2022 Met Gala.
Many fans have also expressed that they feel the show is less genuine compared to KUWTK. The Kardashian-Jenner family first captured viewers' attention by being open and candid about their lives without caring about the opinions of others. Now the Keeping Up With The Kardashians alums seem to focus more on their public image. The new show appears tailored to portray them as “perfect” people, unlike before, where they faced their insecurities head-on, which is one of the things fans loved about them. However, with only four episodes out, it is still too early to judge which of the shows is better than the other, as The Kardashians might surprise fans.
