Kim Kardashian Accused Of Being Insensitive to Family’s Mental Health

The Kardashians fans are accusing Kim Kardashian of being insensitive to mental health issues after a comment she made to sister Kendall during an interview. The eldest Jenner daughter grew up in a different era than Kim did. Born in 1995, the model is 15 years younger than her sister and on the cusp of the Millennial-Gen Z generational divide. The younger generations are notorious for being more sensitive and in touch with their emotions and strong advocates for mental health awareness. Kendall has shared her experience with anxiety several times, as well as some of the other ways she copes with it. Kendall's younger sister Kylie has also been open about her experiences with anxiety and recently was candid with fans about her postpartum struggles.

Kim, on the other hand, has been less open about mental health and instead is passionate about working hard, sometimes to the point where fans think she may be overworking herself. It's no secret that Kim's fans did not receive her Variety advice to businesswomen well, but some fans are now questioning if it is healthy for the star to be so dedicated to working hard all of the time. In an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, the mother of four told Kendall that she would show up to work even if she was on her death bed, and momager Kris expects that of her but is more understanding of Kendall not working because she has anxiety. The model was visibly upset by this comment and defended herself, saying that despite her anxiety, she still works very hard.

Fans are now raising questions about Kim's attitude towards mental health and whether or not the star's work ethic is concerning. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Kendall mentioned that she sometimes mutes the family group chat, and Kim promptly responded, "for your mental health." Fans thought Kim's comments seemed like a jab at her sister. "That little comment was such a disgusting little jab made to invalidate Kendall's mental health," a fan on Reddit wrote. The fan went on to talk about how Kim's obsession with working hard and judging her other family members for not working as hard as she does is incredibly unhealthy. "Not only is Kim's work ethic mindset super toxic but it's extremely unhealthy. Saying you would still show up to work on your deathbed?!! Ridiculous. Making light of other people's mental health, especially those closest to you?... Disgusting," the fan continued.

Fans in the replies agreed, saying they believed Kim may be overcompensating for something with her hard work, suggesting she may have her own struggles she doesn't talk about. They also think brushing off Kendall's anxiety is further adding to society's damaging stigma around mental health. Kim's fans also questioned if the star was dismissive of Kanye's struggles when they were married, as the rapper openly admitted to being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. The star's new boyfriend, Pete Davidson, also openly struggles with Borderline Personality Disorder, and fans wondered if Kim has been supportive of him or not.

Fans have a right to be upset with Kim's comments. Mental Health should not be dismissed or mocked, and people with anxiety or other illnesses should not be looked down upon for their work ethic. While The Kardashians star may not have meant any harm with her comment, she might want to try being a little more sensitive to her family's struggles. While she's at it, it might not be a bad idea if Kim took a break from working so hard as well.
