Hulk's Son Beat Juggernaut in the Darkest Way Possible

The ongoing fights between Hulk and Juggernaut may never truly be settled in the realm of Marvel Comics, but Burce Banner's alien son proved that fighting dirty and under-handed is the real way to defeat the honorable man fighting inside of Juggernaut's domed armor.

The origin of Hulk's son Skaar is anything but heartwarming or familial, born directly out of the infamous Planet Hulk storyline. But whatever the boy's feelings towards his human father, the durability and green-tinged super-strength were genetic gifts given to him by his father all the same. As tempers calmed, Incredible Hulk #602 saw Bruce Banner (back in human form) training Skaar to be more than a brutal or rage-fueled berserker. How? By luring Juggernaut into a trap to fight him, of course.

The unstoppable magically powered Juggernaut, whose real name is Cain Marko, was created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Alex Toth. He's been a part of many teams throughout the Marvel Universe including the X-Men, and he fought alongside the Luke Cage's Thunderbolts. Skaar, the son of Hulk and Caiera the Oldstrong, is a relatively recent creation of Greg Pak and John Romita Jr.. Incredible Hulk #602 contains the first fight Skaar has in his training sessions with the Hulk's alter ego.

The battle in Incredible Hulk #602 really is one for the ages, with the unstoppable magically powered Juggernaut (Cain Marko) unleashing his powers upon Skaar (the son of Hulk and Caiera the Oldstrong). But if Bruce Banner's goal was to urge his son towards becoming a hero, the sly method he uses to win this encounter all but kills it. While Skaar is initially losing the battle, he sandbags Juggernaut by turning to dirty tricks that neither his father nor his opponent would ever stoop to... and wins.

With Juggernaut looming to deliver a finishing blow, Skaar transforms back into his child form, and begs Marko not to hit him. With the deception proving effective in dropping Juggernaut's defenses, Skaar then launches Juggernaut high up into the air, using his unique old power to break through to the Earth's mantle with the intent of burning his opponent. To double down on the dishonor, Skaar's ploy fails... leading him to suggest a truce with Juggernaut, motivated by mutual dislike of his father, Bruce Banner. But instead of backing Juggernaut up in his attack, Skaar decides the second betrayal of Juggernaut is his best moment to complete the plan. Launching Marko into space, leaving him to drift alone (a major fear of Juggernaut's).

Ultimately, Skaar plays off every one of Juggernaut's best instincts, utilizing both his sympathy for children and his willingness to work together to try and inflict incredibly cruel fates on him. Literally all Skaar knows about Juggernaut is that he's an enemy of Hulk's (and he hates his father), so this is just outright cruelty and manipulation all the way through with no justification.
