Netflix's Cobra Kai is back in action with season 4, and it once again exceeded expectations. Each episode did not lose any beat, focusing on the complicated relationships and the incredible build to the All-Valley Tournament. Of course, season 4 ends with a banger, with both surprises and plot twists.
This season explored the complex story arc for many prominent characters. The final moments of season 4 opened a lot of new storylines for season 5, such as the fate of Miyagi-Do, the whereabouts of Miguel, and the shocking revelations about Cobra Kai. Therefore, fans can discuss these burning questions while waiting for new episodes.
Before this season, Anthony was the least-significant LaRusso family member not involved with the karate drama - until now. In season 4, Anthony LaRusso became a prominent character who bullied the new kid, Kenny. The season explored Anthony's point of view that slowly sets up a new rivalry between him and Kenny. Even Daniel tried to recruit Anthony into Miyagi-Do karate, but he did not show any effort.
Anthony tries to settle things with Kenny but receives a karate pounding and taunting. It is pretty shocking since seasons 2 and 3 show Kreese as the antagonist, only to reveal his conscientious side in season 4. Furthermore, Kreese grew doubtful about his partnership with Terry.
In a turn of events, Terry betrays Kreese by framing him for assaulting Stingray. Therefore, the primary antagonist passes down to Terry, setting him as the villain in season 5 by taking sole control of Cobra Kai and removing Kreese as his weakness. Of course, these final moments may hint that Kreese could turn to the good side, but it is unclear if he will even return in season 5 due to the assault charges.
Although Terry has betrayed Kreese, he admitted that he could bring on one or two people to help him operate Cobra Kai. His words might imply a potential return of The Karate Kid Part III's terrifying character, Mike Barnes.
While this is not the first time that fans hoped Mike Barnes would return, it seems that those expectations are imminent in season 5. He has been referenced many times in previous seasons, and Daniel even shares the details of the 1985 tournament with Johnny. If that is the case, Daniel has a lot of work if he plans to stop Cobra Kai for good, making his alliance with Chozen all the more vital.
Many fans probably knew it was too good to be true for Daniel and Johnny to get along that easily. Both clashed with their philosophies and teachings, which led to another rift between them.
As Cobra Kai's heroes, Daniel and Johnny eventually made up and worked together to coach Sam in her match against Tory. However, now that they lost the bet, the finale left their relationship up in the air. Johnny and Daniel's paths diverge as Johnny focuses on finding Miguel while Daniel remains concerned about Cobra Kai. To make matters worse, Tory witnesses this ordeal as she realizes that her win has no merit. There was even one point in the tournament that Sam should have received a point. Regardless, this means that Miyagi-Do could have won had it not been for cheating. Of course, this will be a crucial turning point for Tory, who knows the truth and is currently on a path of redemption. However, the truth coming out publicly remains uncertain.
