Spider-Verse Producers On Whether Miles Morales Is In No Way Home

Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller comment on whether Miles Morales is in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Things are very good for Spider-Man fans these days. In addition to the recent updates regarding the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequels, the latest big screen MCU adventure for the web-slinger is set to debut in just over a week. Spider-Man: No Way Home is also arriving on the heels of Sony's Venom: Let There Be Carnage, the latest installment in the studio's growing Marvel universe. Over the next few years, there are several more Spider-Man-oriented projects on the way as well.

Right now, all of the attention is on Spider-Man: No Way Home and its multiversal premise. Marvel's current exploration of the multiverse has paved the way for characters from other Spider-Man franchises to arrive in the MCU, such as Sam Raimi's iterations of Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) and Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2's Electro (Jamie Foxx). It seems that No Way Home is delving into its own Spider-Verse, which has led some fans to speculate that Miles Morales could make his first live-action appearance in the movie.

However, based on new comments from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse producers Lord and Miller, fans shouldn't get their hopes up too high. Following the premiere of the first Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) trailer, the two participated in a Twitter Q&A session for EW and answered a slew of questions about Miles' next cinematic adventure. On the topic of whether he'll appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home, they said this: "We've seen No Way Home so we would be VERY surprised if Miles showed up. But everyone is part of the Spider-Verse..."

2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming teased Miles' presence in the MCU by featuring an appearance from his uncle Aaron Davis (Donald Glover), so it seems to fans that Miles turning up in the franchise isn't a question of if, but when. Tom Holland, the franchise's current Spider-Man, recently suggested it might be time for Miles to take over as the MCU's webslinger, or to at least receive a movie of his own. Spider-Man: No Way Home would be a clever way to introduce Miles with an eye on setting up future roles.

However, it doesn't sound like Miles will make his MCU debut with Spider-Man: No Way Home. Though Lord and Miller could be misdirecting fans with their answer in the hopes of keeping Miles' appearance a surprise, it seems more likely that they're being truthful. There's already a lot going on in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and a Miles Morales introduction could be just too much to fit in. However, there might be some kind of allusion to him. As Lord and Miller said, the Spider-Verse is very much a thing, and there's a bright future ahead for Miles. Everyone just has to be patient.
