Miss Minutes Actress Plays Coy About Loki Season 2 Return

Miss Minutes voice actor Tara Strong plays coy about the return of her character in Loki season 2. The Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ series centered around Tom Hiddleston's popular character was a hit with critics and audiences when it released season 1 over June and July of this year. Loki season 2 was confirmed in a mid-credits scene in the season 1 finale, but no date has yet been given for its release.

The MCU series follows the version of Loki that escaped captivity too early in Avengers: Endgame, which caused him to run afoul of the Time Variance Authority, a seemingly all-powerful organization tasked with keeping all of history on a predetermined path. They do this by catching and erasing, or "pruning," individuals who veer off their set course, referred to as variants. However, Loki season 1 ends with the destruction of the Sacred Timeline, inviting the possibility of devastating, multiversal war at the hands of the MCU's next big-bad and the TVA's original creator, Kang the Conqueror.

While fans are eager to learn anything they can about Loki season 2, The Direct reports that Strong had a funny explanation for why she declines to share anything about her character's future. The TVA's animated mascot Miss Minutes became a fan-favorite almost instantly, and while the prolific voice actor speaks openly about her experience on season 1 at a recent Fan Expo Canada panel, she says she "can't actually tell" anyone if her character is coming back. Because, she added in her Miss Minutes drawl, "then I'd have to prune you! So sorry."

While Miss Minutes seemed sweetly benign at first, guiding the Loki variant through the TVA's official history, she proved a far more sinister presence by the show's final episode. The artificial intelligence that seemed to serve the TVA was really created by He Who Remains, the Kang variant that supposedly scripted the Sacred Timeline to prevent other versions of himself from existing, to monitor the organization. Her tense confrontation with protagonists Loki and Sylvie in episode 6 was so creepy that Loki's director joked about her next MCU project being a Miss Minutes slasher movie.

While fans can appreciate the cleverness of Strong's response, well-familiar by now with how studiously Marvel keeps its secrets, they are surely hoping that she does indeed return for Loki season 2. Miss Minutes' final scene has her bring secret files to Judge Renslayer on behalf of He Who Remains, and with Loki returning to a transformed TVA following the timeline's dissolution, it's unclear if she even still exists. Hopefully, any variant of Kang who would create the TVA would also want a Miss Minutes of their own, as Loki just wouldn't sound right without her cheerfully threatening twang.
