Spencer Trailer Reveals Kristen Stewart’s Perfect Princess Diana Voice

Kristen Stewart shines as Princess Diana in the new trailer for Spencer. Spencer is helmed by director Pablo Larraín, who previously directed another powerhouse performance in a true story with Natalie Portman in 2016's Jackie. The film was written by Steven Knight, who has penned scripts for several films, including Robert Zemeckis' Allied and David Cronenberg's Eastern Promises. Stewart is also sharing the screen with a talented group of actors, including Sally Hawkins, Timothy Spall, Jack Farthing, and Sean Harris.

The Spencer trailer, which was shared by Elevation Pictures on YouTube, gives an excellent glimpse at Stewart's turn as Princess Diana, where she captures not only the look but also the voice. The film centers on the emotional Christmas holiday at Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England, where Princess Diana makes the decision to end her cold marriage with Prince Charles following rumors of infidelity, a decision that ultimately speaks to the title of the film as Spencer was Princess Diana's maiden name. Spencer has recently been making the rounds at film festivals, where it has garnered critical praise for Stewart's performance. It's clear from the trailer that Stewart became the perfect embodiment of Princess Diana for the part, which is a true testament to her talent as Stewart even said she took the part before having ever read a script. Of course, Stewart's portrayal of Princess Diana isn't the first in recent memory, as Emma Corrin also played the part in The Crown season 4. Still, Stewart looks to have captured a unique essence all her own. For audiences eager to see Stewart's acclaimed portrayal, Spencer is slated to hit theaters on November 5th.
