Daredevil's Charlie Cox Debunks Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer Theory
Daredevil actor Charlie Cox debunks the fan theory that his arms are in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer. After months of breathless anticipation, Marvel fans got a major present last week in the form of the first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home. The third and potentially final solo MCU movie centered on Tom Holland's web-slinger will debut in theaters this December, and it's shaping up to be the biggest Spider-Man movie yet. Picking up from the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, the newest installment will find Peter Parker and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) at the center of a multiversal crisis.
For the past year, rumors have abounded online about who will be included among the Spider-Man: No Way Home cast. In addition to the reported involvement of past Spider-Man actors like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, there have been numerous theories pointing to the inclusion of Cox's Daredevil. Between Cox's recent scheduling change and some unconfirmed reports, many fans have been operating under the assumption that Daredevil will make his MCU movie debut this year. This idea was further fueled by a glimpse of a man's forearms in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, as countless fans online speculated that it could be Cox as Matt Murdock.
Unfortunately, Cox is putting an end to that theory. While speaking to ComicBook.com about his new AMC+ series Kin, the actor responded to the question of whether he can be glimpsed in the No Way Home trailer. "I can promise you those are not my forearms," Cox said. He said nothing further about his potential involvement with the movie, though last year he insisted he wasn't in it.
Fans still holding out hope that Cox will make an appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home will note that he specifically said the arms in the trailer weren't his. That doesn't mean he isn't in the movie, and his past comments about not being involved don't necessarily mean that either. Many Marvel actors have stated publicly that they are not affiliated with a particular project, only to then show up or later be confirmed. If there's one thing fans can be certain of, though, it is that wasn't Daredevil in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer.
The common theory is that Matt will sign on as Peter's lawyer. At the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter's identity was revealed to the world, and he was framed for the murder of Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). The trailer for December's movie confirmed he'll get into some legal trouble because of these accusations, which could certainly pave the way for Daredevil to appear. For now, though, fans will have to wait for a more concrete confirmation of Cox's involvement with Spider-Man: No Way Home.
