Cobra Kai Season 4 Releases New Year’s Eve 2021 | Screen Rant
Cobra Kai season 4 is set to ring in the new year. Cobra Kai is the continuation of The Karate Kid saga, which began in 1984, introducing the world to the karate rivalry between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and their respective dojos. The film spawned three sequels and the show, Cobra Kai, debuted in 2018 on YouTube Red, before being acquired by Netflix for the third season.
Both Macchio and Zabka returned to their respective roles, now 30 years later, but a younger generation, including their own character's offspring, have also entered the Miyagiverse. Mary Mouser, Xolo Maridueña, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, and Peyton List are just a few of the newcomers who now have their own rivalries to contend with in the world of Cobra Kai, rivalries that have continued to escalate from season-to-season. In addition, the show has brought back a multitude of characters from the films, with Martin Kove's John Creese, the founder of Cobra Kai, playing a key role in the last few seasons. Season three left Kove's Creese at odds with both Daniel and Johnny, which is sure to heat up in season four.
Now comes word from Netflix that that Cobra Kai season 4 will debut on New Years Eve 2021, giving audiences a definitive date for when they can pick up where the show left off and continue the Cobra Kai journey. The show has already been renewed for season five and the showrunners have said they have plans for where it will go. In addition, fans can look forward to multiple Cobra Kai spinoffs, which are currently being developed.
Season four of the series will see the return of Thomas Ian Griffith's Terry Silver, a main villain in The Karate Kid: Part III. Silver served in Vietnam with Cobra Kai founder John Creese, where they both developed into the villainous characters they became. Season three of the series left the warring dojo's at odds once again with the promise to resolve their issues at the All-Valley Karate Tournament, which is likely where season four will end.
Anticipation is high for Cobra Kai, which has quickly become a staple show for Netflix. Giving audiences the opportunity to catch up at the start of 2022 is akin to how season 3 kicked off, which was in January of 2021. A year wait seems fair when looking forward to such a popular show and it will be interesting to see if the January premiere date sticks for the show going forward. Either way, fans can kick off 2022 with Cobra Kai and that's never a bad thing.
