The Real Housewives Of New York: Best Friendships In The Series
With season 13 being one of the lowest-ranking seasons in The Real Housewives of New York franchise, fans can't help but go back to previous seasons to see what worked then that's not working now. And one of those things is the friendships. The bond between the Housewives is what makes a successful series and when the show loses those bonds, the storylines become unattached.
There have been 17 past and present Housewives in total. They've all brought their own flair and personality to the show but the one thing that sticks in fans' memories is their relationships with the other women. From Ramona and Sonja to Eboni and Leah, there have been some amazing ties that have come out of this Bravo show.
8 Ramona & Sonja
Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan have been friends long before the show. Ramona joined the series in season 1 while Sonja didn't join until season 3, but both women continue to be on the show as best friends.
What makes their friendship so exciting is that no matter how hard life gets or the silly arguments the two have, they always hug it out at the end of the day. There are things that are hard for Sonja and Ramona to live down but they always support one another despite their mistakes. With the two rooming together on every vacation throughout RHONY, they have no choice but to get along.
7 Eboni & Leah
Leah McSweeney and Eboni K. Williams are RHONY's newcomers and they have shaken up the cast. Leah and Eboni are the youngest in the friend circle and have varying interests than the likes of the other women, which has ruffled some feathers. However, their friendship has been fun to watch.
Leah has taken Eboni under her wing and introduced her to all the women. They listen to each other, support each other, and appear to be real friends outside of filming. If Leah and Eboni come back for season 14, it will be enjoyable to see how their friendship blossoms.
6 Bethenny & Carole
Bethenny Frankel may have started as an OG Housewife but she took some time off in season 5. At the same time, Carole Radziwill took her place and made a name for herself as the savvy professional who's typically right about most outcomes — just like Bethenny.
When Bethenny came back in season 7, she and Carole quickly became attached to the hip. They had a similar banter and enough differences to balance the other. In many disagreements, it was Bethenny and Carole vs. the others. Sadly, somewhere down the line, Bethenny and Carole fell apart. The two got into a heated disagreement over Carole's boyfriend's involvement in Bethenny's rescue missing in Puerto Rico and the two never recovered. They both left the series in season 10.
5 Luann & Ramona & Sonja
While Ramona and Sonja are best friends, Luann de Lesseps is also the third-best friend in the group (as long as they're all getting along). With the three being some of the longest-running cast members in the series, Luann, Ramona, and Sonja have a long history together.
Throughout Luann's arrest, Ramona's divorce, and Sonja's financial troubles, these three have always supported one another. Arguments do break out from time to time and they don't always see eye to eye, but they always find a way to save their friendship.
4 Bethenny & Jill
Before there was Carole as Bethenny's best friend, there was Jill Zarin. Both women started RHONY at the same time in season 1. They were at two different parts in life (Bethenny was single and trying to get her business off the ground while Jill was married, a mother of one, and running an empire) but their friendship prevailed.
In season 3, however, the two hit a rough patch. Jill felt like Bethenny abandoned their friendship when Jill's husband, Bobby, got sick, and Bethenny felt like Jill was jealous of her newfound business success. The two stopped talking and Jill left the series in season 4, but they're now on better terms. When Bobby passed away in 2017, Bethenny attended the funeral where she and Jill found common ground. It was one of Bethenny's biggest fights, but fans still miss her friendship with Jill.
3 Leah & Tinsley
When Leah joined the series in season 12, the one person she gravitated towards right away was Tinsley Mortimer. Like Eboni and Leah's friendship, Leah and Tinsley were similar ages and being friends was easy for them.
In Tinsley's last season, she felt like a future with her then-boyfriend Scott in Chicago was a better move than being in New York with the other women, and Tinsley was right. However, fans miss seeing Leah and Tinsley having fun at Ramona's Hampton's house or throwing pasta at the women in Newport.
2 Dorinda & Bethenny
When Bethenny came back to RHONY in season 7 after a brief haiatus, she and newcomer Dorinda Medley became close. Bethenny was closer to Carole at the time but now that both Bethenny and Dorinda are no longer on the series, their friendship has thrived.
In an episode of Bethenny's podcast, Just B with Bethenny Frankel, Bethenny admitted that she and Dorinda are closer than ever. "We have gotten really much closer, and it's better that we got closer not being on the show because it means that it's not because of the show," she said. Likewise, in an interview with US Weekly, Dorinda said this about her close friend, “[Bethenny's] an endless learning curve that girl, and you could just listen to her forever. She’s a unique character, strong. What a businesswoman. I admire her.”
1 Heather & Carole
Heather Thomson joined the series in season 5, just like Carole. With the two women being newbies, they leaned on each other when they disagreed with the others. Being in the same cast as Luann, Sonja, and Ramona, it can be hard to get a word in edge-wise, which is why Heather and Carole got along so well. When the others were drinking too much or spatting, Heather and Carole were often watching from the sidelines. Today, the two are still friends have been seen out and about New York dining together.
