Boba Fett Has Nothing on Star Wars' New Bounty Hunter

Warning: contains major spoilers for Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters: Jabba the Hutt #1

It appears that Boba Fett has met his match with Star Wars' newest bounty hunter. Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters: Jabba the Hutt #1 pits fan-favorite Boba Fett against a newcomer who is more dangerous than initially suspected. He has met his equal in Deva Lompop.

War of the Bounty Hunters is a major cross-over event from Marvel and Star Wars that spans numerous comic titles, with several tie-in issues. This latest issue shows the resources that Jabba is able to call on and shows an old job that Boba pulled with the latest bounty hunter introduced in the Star Wars galaxy.

Created by the team of Justina Ireland, Luca Pizzari, Ibraim Roberson, Giada Marchisio, Edgar Delgado, and Vc Ariana Maher, Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters: Jabba the Hutt #1 introduces Deva Lompop - a colorful, but deadly bounty hunter. It becomes clear with this issue that she knows what she's doing and is able to get the drop on even the best and most trained bounty hunters - including Boba Fett. The issue flashes back to a time when two are sent on a job by Jabba the Hutt, which quickly goes bad for the bounty hunter - making Boba look pretty bad compared to how fans are used to seeing him.

Deva is sent after Jarm Brock, who Jabba wants taken care of. This bounty is working with Crimson Dawn to set Jabba against the Hutt Council - though Jabba just believes he is disrupting his operations on Mos Entha by order of the Hutt Council. Deva is called in because she owes Jabba, though she quickly proves that she isn't somebody who should be crossed. Her arsenal is just one reason to be concerned about getting on her bad side. Deva Lompop has gas bombs that melt skin off her foes and her knife has poison. This knife is what she uses to get a jump on Boba. She has history with Jarm and gets intel from him before killing him - going against Jabba's order to bring him in alive for questioning.

The other aspects that make Deva so deadly come from the special abilities her body has. When she turns on him, Boba uses his flamethrower on her. Unfortunately for him, her skin can largely withstand it - though her feathered hair can't. The fire leaves light burns on her face, but no injuries that are very intensive. This Star Wars bounty hunter is also a skilled fighter, who has connections, and she eats her prey. She is a carnivorous bounty hunter with a top notch arsenal that leaves her foes highly vulnerable or dead within seconds. When Boba loses Han Solo while working the infamous bounty job, Deva is the one Jabba sends to track him to check on his progress. Thus far, it appears as though Boba is none the wiser about his being watched by her - particularly since she doesn't confront him at all, merely watching from a distance. As a Star Wars bounty hunter who can keep tabs on Boba Fett without being detected and has already brought him down once, Deva Lompop is one worth keeping an eye out for.
