Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Features A Bird That Can Poop On Link's Head

Ganon and the forces of darkness are now the least of Link’s worries, as it turns out that birds can poop on him in The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD – and it even drains his stamina. The 2011 Nintendo Wii blockbuster was recently remastered on the Switch, topping the UK and eShop sales charts not a week into its launch.

As is the case with every installment of Nintendo’s long-running dungeon-crawler RPG mega-franchise, Link has to battle a vast assortment of enemies in Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword, ranging from lowly Bokoblins to the fearsome demon king Demise. It seems that even the birds want to have a go at the unlucky hero who only wants to rescue Princess Zelda and save the floating island of Skyloft from the dark creatures that threaten it, and they have an age-old weapon on their side that anyone with a car knows to fear: their droppings.

Yesterday, Reddit user u/EnergyTurtle23 shared a video of a chance encounter between Link and a crow-like Hrok in The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword to the r/Zelda subreddit. The skirmish is a brief one, with Link striking at one of the birds as it tries to divebomb him – and his avian opponent retaliating by pooping right on his iconic green cap. All poor Link can do at that point is stand helplessly and sigh in exasperation as the small, steaming mound of fecal matter slowly wears down his stamina.

It's worth noting that birds could poop on Link in the Wii version of Skyward Sword, but the recent HD remaster does feature a variety of changes and improvements over the 2011 original. Players can now choose traditional button-based controls instead of the old motion-based ones, minigames like bamboo cutting have been reworked, and the infamously annoying helper fairy Fi has been thankfully toned down with much of her dialogue being made optional.

Link has been through a lot during the Legend Of Zelda series, from having to save the world multiple times to being turned into a wolf to buying masks from mentally disturbed merchants as the moon threatens to crush everything. However, this latest bird-dropping incident in The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD might be one of the most embarrassing things he’s had to contend with - especially since it could cause his death if he doesn’t deal with it quickly enough. Here’s to hoping that Link can wash the poop stains out of his hat before his next sidequest.
