Where to Find Every Gratitude Crystal in Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword continues the series tradition of offering Link a myriad of side-quests to engage in. Many past entries in the franchise have an overarching ‘collectathon’ quest, where players must obtain a series of collectible items scattered throughout the game world in exchange for prizes. Skyward Sword’s incarnation of this staple is with the Gratitude Crystal questline.

Hidden in one of Skyloft's lesser-known locations is Batreaux, a friendly demon who wants to become human. To make that dream a reality, Link needs to collect Gratitude Crystals for him to transform. There are a total of 80 hidden throughout the game's sky world, and the more the player collects, the better Batreaux’s rewards are. Bigger wallet sizes, a piece of heart, gold rupees, and more await those who help him out, so here’s how to obtain every gratitude crystal in the game.

Many of the side-quests in Skyward Sword will reward Link with five gratitude crystals upon completion. Each one has the hero helping out a citizen of Skyloft by bringing them an item they need or solving one of their problems. Listed below is every side-quest players need to complete if they want to collect every last gratitude crystal. Not all quests are available at the start of the game, with many becoming available as the story progresses, so here’s a list of the crystal-rewarding side-quests in their unlock order.

Not all of the crystals are obtained through helping others. Some are scattered throughout the world and must be picked up manually by Link, or by using an item like the Beetle. After finishing the Sandship dungeon in the Lanayru Sand Sea, players can upgrade their sword to dowse for these crystals on their own! Many are located in plain sight and are difficult to miss, while others can only be collected after obtaining the Beetle or Clawshot.

  • Inside Zelda’s room at night, which is accessible by using the Clawshot to enter the Knight Academy’s chimney.
