Co-creator and writer James Tynion IV dropped a few preview covers for House of Slaughter on Twitter on July 15. These covers accurately show the exquisite terror that drew fans into Something Is Killing The Children in the first place, with the eerie loom of dread present in every image. Also in Tynion’s post, he introduces the creative team and welcomes the world with excitement to the growing mythos of Something Is Killing The Children. “It’s really, really good, you guys. I can’t wait for you all to read it for yourselves.”

In the Twitter post announcing the release of House of Slaughter, another piece of news was dropped on fans of Something Is Killing The Children. James Tynion IV says Something Is Killing The Children will go on hiatus for a few months while he and his co-creator on the book, Werther Dell‘Edera, work on the next chapter in Erica Slaughter’s story. Until then, it seems, the two comic creators will go backwards in time through Erica and Aaron’s life to flesh out their roots and uncover the secrets behind their monster-killing skills.

Not only will fans witness the origins of Erica and Aaron, but new characters were also promised in House of Slaughter. In the Tweet sent by Tynion exclaiming his excitement for the BOOM! Studios-announced project, he says, “This book will see the first members of another House in the Order of St. George.” While little other than the presented information on the new title has been released, the excitement of the creators speaks for itself and the track record of the cult hit Something Is Killing The Children all but ensures the new book’s quality. House of Slaughter is scheduled for release in October 2021.
