Moon Knight Is Willing To Do What Other Heroes Will Not
Warning! Spoilers for Moon Knight #2 by Marvel Comics
Moon Knight doesn't play by the same rules as some of his fellow Marvel Comics heroes. In his new ongoing series, the antihero admits he's not afraid to kill to get the job done, even noting "I'm not Spider-Man." In the bloody first issue of Moon Knight #1, Marc Spector proves he's more than willing to get his hands dirty to keep his enemies down for good.
In his time as an antihero in the Marvel Universe, Moon Knight has rarely fit in alongside his fellow Avengers. While characters like Spider-Man and Daredevil refuse to kill, Moon Knight seems to enjoy mowing down his opponents - even cutting off the face of one of his greatest villains before. Of course, Spector's penchant for killing has put him at odds with other Marvel heroes before, but it doesn't seem like he's too concerned about what others think about him or his bloody methods. Still, in his new series, Moon Knight's more violent approach continues at full speed.
In Moon Knight #1 by Jed MacKay, Alessandro Cappuccio, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Cory Petit, Moon Knight is back in action. The comic opens with him chasing down a car of vampires and murdering them with a stake. Later, he's seen fighting a group of Vermin who are tormenting an old woman's apartment building - as he uses his crescent dart to stab them and throws one of them off the side of a building. After telling the cloned Spider-Man villains he knows they're a science experiment gone wrong, he tells them he's not Spider-Man and he can't be killed.
Moon Knight makes a limited-time offer to the Vermin, saying he killed one of them because they killed an innocent person. Spector offers them the chance to keep clear of his territory, or they can continue to test him and he will make sure they never come back. The threat works as the Vermin immediately disbands.
In the issue, Moon Knight makes a real threat many of his fellow heroes couldn't make - if the Vermin didn't leave, he would have butchered them all one by one. It's a great way to deal with the murderous monsters. Thankfully, it doesn't come to that, as the cloned villains decide to leave his territory before things get even more violent. Moon Knight - who's later seen taking on zombies with a chainsaw - welcomes killing, which makes him one of the darkest heroes in the Marvel Universe. Readers can see Moon Knight get his hands bloody as Moon Knight #1 is in comic book stores now.
