Mario Golf: Super Rush - 10 Reasons It's The Best Mario Golf Game Yet

Mario Golf series includes a total of 6 games and while all of them have great features to offer, Mario Golf: Super Rush manages to come out on top. It includes many great details that make the game shine and adds unique mechanics that make it far more than a simple golf game.

The game stands out due to taking a unique approach to golf by combining it with great character abilities, distinct game modes, and picturesque maps (with many details inspired by previous Mario games). These, and many more, make Mario Golf: Super Rush the best Mario Golf game to date.

10 Great Graphics

Nintendo's games are known for their constantly improving graphics through the years and Mario Golf: Super Rush is no exception.

From hitting the ball and using special dashes to follow it to the picturesque maps, the game looks amazing and makes it a great experience for fans. In addition, it is perfectly optimized with no lag at all and thus can be considered one of the best Mario games overall.

9 Unique Maps

Mario Golf: Super Rush features 6 total maps, and although that might seem like a relatively small number, each of them is exceptionally unique, with its features influenced by older Mario games.

From the classic grassy golf fields to a vast desert influenced by the famous Kalimari Desert, and even to a huge modern stadium, Mario Golf: Super Rush includes many great maps, each with its own obstacles and mechanics.

8 Speed Golf

Speed golf is one of the secondary modes in Mario Golf: Super Rush where all players hit the ball at the same time and then rush to where it lands to see who hits it first. As its name suggests, it's a game of speed that offers a unique approach to golf.

This is one of the reasons that Super Rush is distinct from most golf games as it features the default golf mode and many more, allowing for great replayability through variety.

7 Battle Golf

Battle Golf is another great secondary game mode that mixes Mario Golf and Mario Kart as players hit their ball in a free-for-all game mode.

The goal is to try and score as many times as possible while avoiding some of Mario's toughest villains, who are placed as obstacles. In a battle-royale golf mode that is full of havoc and adrenaline, Battle Golf is a great option for getting straight into the fun and action.

6 Simple Chilled Golf

Although Mario Golf: Super Rush is mostly known for its unique features that separate it from the default sports games, it still remains true to some of the classic golf elements.

Through the classic and simple golf mode, players can have a more chilled experience in between the adrenaline-filled side modes. Put otherwise, Mario Golf: Super Rush, differentiates from the default sports game approach, while also staying true to its roots.

5 Special Dashes and Abilities

One of the best elements of Super Rush is that each character bears a unique dash and ability that adds an extra great layer of complexity to the game. Each character feels distinct and adds a new twist to each game session.

For instance, Luigi can freeze the ground, making anyone else's shot much harder to target precisely, while Warrior depletes others' power meters and, thus, slowing down the pace of the game.

4 Opening Cinematic

Mario Golf: Super Rush had one of the best opening cinematics ever. It showed every character in their unique outfit, teased the special abilities and dashes, while also revealing the multiple game modes.

In addition, it was revealed that the obstacles in each map will be influenced by previous Mario games like the chain chomp. Lastly, some of the most nerve-racking moments of the game are shown with Bowser's ball barely missing the whole, while Mario succeeds and steals the victory.

3 Great Outfits

Although each character only brings one attire, Mario Golf: Super Rush includes some of the best outfits that perfectly fit the sports/golf theme.

From Waluigi appearing as a gentleman/professional golfer, Rosalina using her wand to swing the golf club, to the famous Mario and Luigi with their red and green polo respectively, each character's costume includes some amazing details.

2 Story Mode Boss Fights

Although the story mode isn't Super Rush's best element, the 3 boss fights at the end were definitely worth the time spent there.

If Nintendo decided to maintain these bosses' visual and combat mechanics, while greatly ramping up the difficulty, these could even end up being as challenging as some of Dark Souls' hardest bosses.

1 Mii Character Progression

A great feature of Mario Golf: Super Rush is the Mii character progression. The player can create their own character and level their skills slowly while being able to make them even stronger than the game's default characters.

This progression makes the game more replayable and gives the players some motivation to use the initially weaker Mii character. In addition, it gives a more personal perspective to the game, as the player isn't forced to use the default characters.
