Icarus Pre-Order Beta Weekends Starting In August | Screen Rant
Playable beta weekends have officially been confirmed for the upcoming session-based survival game, Icarus. The game comes from DayZ creator Dean Hall's studio RocketWerkz, and will task up to eight players with surviving in the alien wilderness of planet Icarus. Icarus was originally scheduled to release in August, but was delayed until later this year to allow for more community feedback and development time.
Players will have multiple chances to take part in Icarus' beta tests ahead of the game's full launch in November this year, with each test introducing new content. RocketWerkz has announced that Icarus will open beta gameplay on 28 August 2021, with the developer then releasing "brand new features and content" for players to test out every two weeks. The staggered approach will not only allow fans to get to grips with the gameplay, but will also give the development team more useful feedback from its players. The first beta weekend will invite gamers to "put Icarus’ core survival gameplay to the test,” with fans able to explore the title's forest biome and test out its building, exploring, and hunting mechanics.
Icarus' testing phase will continue in the second beta weekend starting September 11, which will introduce storm mechanics that can destroy players' bases. New biomes will then be unveiled with additional playable weekends, with Arctic and Desert biomes coming in September and October. The final two playable betas will focus on mission quests and community competitions and challenges, with the final test weekend scheduled for November 6. Anyone who has already pre-ordered Icarus, or does so within the month of August, will have access to all of the playable betas as they are released.
Icarus will release on PC this November.
