Canadian Iron Man is Tony Stark's New Partner | Screen Rant

Warning: SPOILERS for Iron Man #10

The one and only Iron Man has a new ally in the pages of Iron Man #10, now that he's joined forced with Avro-X, also known as the "Canadian Iron Man." The character has been on hiatus for quite some time, but he's finally back, fighting alongside his American counterpart.

The ongoing Iron Man series, from Christopher Cantwell, Cafu, and Frank D'Armata, shows the titular hero leading a ragtag group against Korvac, the Avengers' most powerful foe. The villain has returned with a plan to retrieve the Power Cosmic from Galactus’ ship and restore himself to full power. Both Korvac and Tony Stark's god complexes are on full display in this series, but the latter has had his ego put in check, mysteriously teleported to another planet for an unknown duration... especially since it sounds like he wouldn't mind staying (despite being separated from Hellcat, aka Patsy Walker, his current girlfriend). He is not alone on this planet, as both Avro-X and the Marvel punchline Stilt-Man are there to keep Iron Man company.

Canadian Marvel superheroes have been enjoying the spotlight at Marvel, so seeing Avro-X reappear is certainly worth celebrating. The hero first appeared in 1989, in Marvel Fanfare #44. Originally a major in the Canadian Armed Forces, Colin Richard aka Avro-X was selected to be the test subject for a new mechanical suit of armor at the International Robotics Symposium. When the suit malfunctioned due to a virus, the attendees of the symposium were put in major danger. The virus was thankfully removed and all was well. However, readers have not seen much of Avro-X since then. Based on how well Iron Man and Avro-X work together in Iron Man #10, it seems as though readers will get a lot more of the "Canadian Iron Man."

Avro-X's level-headed almost wholesome responses to danger make him an excellent foil to Iron Man's more tough and embittered outlook on their current situation. Their teamwork and the brief respite from general superhero drama and adventure provided by a simple game of baseball may make Avro-X the perfect partner for Iron Man, at least for this series. Avro-X and Iron Man have the potential to be more than just a duo in the comics, but actual superhero friends as well and to make each other stronger in the face of Ultimos and rebuilding on this planet. This is truly a ragtag group of heroes and with Iron Man staying behind to help protect the colony, there is no telling what adventures the Canadian and American Iron Men will get up to.

Iron Man #10 is available now, wherever comic books are sold.
