Assassin's Creed Valhalla DLC After Siege of Paris: What's Next?
The upcoming launch of Assassin's Creed Valhalla's second paid DLC, The Siege of Paris, marks the release of the last confirmed expansion for Ubisoft's Viking game. But recent announcements and rumors indicate that Assassin Creed Valhalla's post-launch plans are far from over.
Thus far, Assassin's Creed Valhalla has had a substantial amount of post-launch content. That includes two paid DLC expansions, Wrath of Druids and upcoming The Siege of Paris, both of which add new maps and storylines to the main game. Assassin's Creed Valhalla has also had several free updates that have added both permanent and limited time additions to the game. River Raid and Mastery Challenge modes have been added since the game's launch, and the settlement of Ravensthorpe has been home to three limited time festivals (so far).
There are still a few confirmed updates in the works. Later this summer, River Raids will receive new maps. In addition, a free Discovery Tour mode, which strips away combat and turns Assassin's Creed games into a learning vehicle, will be releasing some time in Fall 2021. Fall 2021 should also see the release of a fourth piece of season content, according to the original post-launch plans for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. While details have not been announced, each of the prior seasonal updates to the game have brought a limited time festival to Ravensthorpe, so a fourth festival is likely.
At E3, Ubisoft made the surprise announcement that they would be supporting Assassin's Creed Valhalla with a second year of content. That includes working on "more expansions for next year." The announcement ended with a teaser of a fiery molten gate, potentially supporting dataminer theories that Assassin's Creed Valhalla would add Muspelheim to its explorable mythological realms (currently, the game contains Asgard and Jotunheim). Past datamines contained an image of a fiery door that looks very similar to the one in the teaser, and Muspelheim is a realm of fire, all of which adds credence to the idea that Muspelheim will be added to the game.
Rumors have also swirled for months about a third expansion the size of Wrath of Druids and The Siege of Paris, potentially called Meteor. While a third expansion does seem confirmed with Ubisoft's E3 announcement, it's very possible Meteor was the recent Mastery Challenge game mode, as that quest line begins with the literal crash landing of a meteor outside the village of Ravensthorpe. While Meteor might not be the name of a third expansion, the fact that Ubisoft announced expansions plural, not singular, indicates that the DLC teased by the fire door is not the only expansion on its way, and Assassin's Creed Valhalla may very well see a new paid DLC in its future.
