My Big Fat Fabulous Life: Season 9 Release Date, News & Updates
Love it or hate it, My Big Fat Fabulous Life gets lots of attention for its drama and controversies, and we're here to share details about season 9. Some viewers consider the show's star Whitney Thore (who has lived with anxiety) a role model who dances and feels comfortable in her own skin. Others don't think she should be looked up to as they feel that she makes her own troubles. They perceive her as a person who complains a lot and makes excuses. Whitney is going to be coming back for another season and it seems like that new season will include more love. However, it may also feature more heartbreak.
The most recent season saw Whitney still reeling from the news that her fiancé Chase Severino was expecting a baby with another woman. While some fans were shocked and pitied Whitney, others found the whole plotline too dramatic to be believable. The couple’s lack of physical affection on camera added fuel to the speculation that TLC had fabricated the entire relationship. Some fans take it even further by assuming that the whole show is scripted. In past, TLC has tried to sweep certain MBFFL facts under the rug.
TLC announced that MBFFL season 9 will premiere on Tuesday, August 17. According to the press release, this season will have a new romantic prospect for Whitney. The press release states that: “Whitney is exploring a new relationship of her own, as an online flirtation buds with a man who lives in Paris—the two met while Whitney was taking virtual French lessons, but long distance, especially cross-continental, is never easy, so the two of them are working to figure out exactly what they have.”
This new season finds Whitney back in Greensboro, North Carolina. Buddy Bell, Whitney’s best friend (fans want him to become her boyfriend) is living with Whitney, but he's in a relationship that takes up a lot of his time. Things seem to be going well with her new business partner, Jessica. They have a virtual business, although some fans using the virtual training have felt ghosted by Whitney. Her goal of becoming a certified personal trainer does hit a roadblock. As the press release says, “[Whitney] soon finds that anti-fat prejudices make it hard to develop a client base.”
Between new love, old friends, and trying to navigate the world, season 9 sounds like it will follow many of the same plot lines as previous seasons. Unlike season 8, which saw Whitney isolated from her friends due to COVID-19 concerns, season 9 sees Whitney, her friends, and her parents all fully vaccinated, with restrictions lifting. This August, fans can tune in to TLC to see whether or not Whitney is finally able to find happiness during the upcoming season of My Big Fat Fabulous Life.
