Loki Meets The Time Variance Authority In Marvel Show Video
Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief meets the Time Variance Authority in a new clip from Marvel's Loki. The eagerly anticipated Disney+ series will premiere this week and push Loki to the forefront of his very own MCU project. Loki has long been a fan favorite within the MCU, but his stories have always revolved around his heroic adoptive brother Thor (Chris Hemsworth). At long last, the franchise will explore the character outside of Thor's scope as he embarks on a new adventure across time and space. Loki also stars Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Wunmi Mosaku.
The Loki at the center of the Disney+ series isn't exactly the same trickster from past Marvel movies. Instead, this Loki variant is the one who absconded with the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame, thus disrupting the pre-established timeline. This catches the eye of the Time Variance Authority, or the TVA, those tasked with maintaining the timeline. Under the supervision of Wilson's Mobius M. Mobius, Loki must cooperate with the TVA to fix what he broke. This will take place across a six-episode run, though there are hints that a Loki season 2 is already in the works.
With Loki's premiere fast approaching, new clips from the series have emerged online. A snippet from episode one revealed by IGN shows Loki's first meeting with the TVA. Hunter-B15 (Mosaku) catches up with the Loki variant in the desert and immediately tries to take him into custody. Naturally, Loki isn't too thrilled about this, and he also isn't willing to comply. Watch the clip in the space down below.
This scene from Loki appears to take place right after the character escaped with the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame. Aside from his costume, which matches up with what he wore during the Battle of New York, Loki dryly informs Hunter B-15 that "It's been a very long day." Though the MCU has spent considerable time with Loki after 2012's The Avengers, this series will be reverting back to the period directly after that movie. In other words, audiences will be following a Loki who has just suffered an immense loss. That's bound to do a number on his mental state.
The Loki clip also confirms the God of Mischief doesn't know anything about the Time Variance Authority, further supporting the organization's mysterious position within the MCU. As Loki learns new things about the TVA, audiences will learn along with him. It's already clear that things won't get off to a smooth start, but then again, things are rarely easy when Loki is involved. Fans will get to see what comes next when Loki debuts this week.
Loki premieres Wednesday on Disney+.
