Many of the greatest and most memorable characters in the history of cinema can be easily identified by their signature prop or weapon. Indiana Jones has his whip, Captain America has his shield, and Thor has Mjölnir. These objects are more than just props, they are extensions of the character.
In the same way, there are many iconic movie killers who wield unique weapons. These weapons can add a new twist or angle to the kills they are used in. Whether their weapon of choice is weird, unconventional, innovative, or insidious, it sets the character apart from other killers and makes them memorable.
10 Darth Maul (Double-Bladed Lightsaber)
In 1999, audiences were first introduced to Darth Maul, one of the coolest Star Wars villains of all time, when he appeared in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. When Darth Maul initially fought Qui-Gon Jinn on Tatooine, he only ignited one-half of his red lightsaber. This made the climactic reveal that he was the first character to wield a double-bladed lightsaber onscreen all the more shocking.
During this epic showdown with Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, he demonstrated great skill with his lightsaber and used the weapon to kill Qui-Gon Jinn.
9 Jigsaw (Reverse Beartrap)
In the Saw franchise, John Kramer, also known as the Jigsaw killer, is the mastermind behind all of the games, designing elaborate traps that force his victims to decide just how they are willing to go in order to save themselves and gain a new lease on life.
While Jigsaw has created many traps over the years, his most iconic device is the reverse beartrap. The reverse beartrap is one of the only devices to appear in multiple films and typically involves the wearer needing to find a key before the timer goes off and activates the trap, which bursts open and violently rips the wearer's jaws apart.
8 Professor Plum/Mrs. Peacock/Yvette (Candlestick)
Based on the popular board game, Clue is a unique film that features three different endings, encouraging audiences to watch the film repeatedly in order to see all of the possible endings. In each ending, the murderer is revealed to be a different character with the possible outcomes exposing Professor Plum, Mrs. Peacock, or Yvette as the person who murdered Mr. Boddy.
In all three possible endings, Mr. Boddy is killed with a candlestick. This is a clear nod to the source material as the candlestick is one of six potential murder weapons included in the board game.
7 Joker (Pencil)
Since The Dark Knight's release in 2008, Heath Ledger's version of the Joker has become one of the most iconic performances in comic book film history, earning the actor a posthumous Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. His take on the character has become known as one of the greatest performances in a comic book movie of all time.
In the scene in which the Joker offers his services to the mob, he disposes of a henchman in a unique way. The Joker stands a pencil up on the table and then slams the goon's face down, sending the pencil through his eye and killing him in an unforgettable one-of-a-kind "magic trick."
6 Anton Chigurh (Bolt Gun)
No Country for Old Men is the 2007 Best Picture Academy Award-winning film based on a novel by Cormac McCarthy. the story follows Llewelyn Moss as he makes off with money from a drug deal gone wrong. Pursuing Llewelyn Moss is the cold and calculated killer Anton Chigurh, who is played to perfection by actor Javier Bardem.
Anton Chigurh typically flips a coin to decide whether or not to kill the people he comes across in his pursuit of Llewelyn Moss. For many of his kills, the emotionless murderer uses a bolt gun to kill his victims. Bolt guns are typically used to stun cattle before they slaughtered.
5 Oddjob (Bowler Hat)
Over the years, James Bond has accumulated many iconic villains and henchmen. From Blofeld to Jaws, nefarious individuals are constantly attempting to kill the world's most famous spy, including the wealthy psychopath Auric Goldfinger in the film Goldfinger.
One of James Bond's most notable villains is the popular character Oddjob, who works as Goldfinger's manservant and hired killer. Despite not uttering a word, Oddjob is an incredibly popular character thanks in large part to his razor-sharp bowler hat that he is able to throw, capable of slitting throats and causing irreparable damage.
4 Samantha (Basketball)
Based on the Diana Henstell novel Friend, Deadly Friend is a 1986 horror movie directed by the legendary Wes Craven. The film is about a teenage computer programmer who uploads his robot's programming into the brain of his friend after she is pronounced brain dead, inadvertently creating a murderous computer-human hybrid.
In a cult classic scene, the woman who possesses the brain of a robot, Samatha, confronts Elvira Parker and corners her against the wall. Samatha then throws a basketball so hard that it causes Elvira's head to explode, killing her. It is a ridiculous over-the-top scene that instantly makes the movie unforgettable.
3 Sweeney Todd (Shaving Razor)
Originally appearing in a penny dreadful series in 1846, the character of Sweeney Todd eventually became the central figure of a Stephen Sondheim musical that debut in 1979 and a 2007 Tim Burton film adaptation. The story follows a man determined to get revenge on the corrupt judge who took his family away and ruined his life.
Sweeney Todd works as a barber in order to get close to his victims before slitting their throats with his shaving razors and giving their bodies over to Nellie Lovett to turn into meat pies.

Originally made of bone, the character acquires adamantium claws when he has his skeleton covered in the metal. Throughout his appearances, Wolverine uses his claws to slice through and kill countless enemies.

Since he first appeared in 1984's A Nightmare on Elm Street, the monstrous Freddy Krueger has been giving audiences nightmares. He was originally a child killer who became the recipient of vigilante justice when he was killed by the town's parents. He then returned to exact his revenge on the parents by tormenting and killing their kids in their sleep.
Freddy's murder weapon of choice is his signature razor-clawed glove that he uses to scratch against surfaces to build fear and anticipation before he goes in for the kill.
