God of War: Ragnarok Delay Teased By Insider | Screen Rant

God of War: Ragnarok appears to have been delayed, according to reputable journalist Jason Schreier. The former Kotaku turned Bloomberg reporter took to Twitter to suggest that God of War: Ragnarok was delayed months ago internally, and that this setback will likely be made official later this year.

God of War: Ragnarok was officially announced last year prior to the launch of the PS5 with a 2021 release window. Fans were still pretty skeptical, as the game doesn't even technically have a title, gameplay, or details. Halfway through the year, people are still incredibly skeptical that God of War: Ragnarok releases in 2021 and now, it's all but confirmed that it most likely won't.

Jason Schreier suggested on Twitter that Horizon: Forbidden West will hit its 2021 release, but God of War: Ragnarok will, it seems, be delayed. Schreier went on to respond to another user, claiming that it was delayed months ago internally and Sony will likely make it more official when it's ready to start talking about the game in greater detail. There's no clear idea when Sony may actually take the initiative to start showing what 2022 and beyond looks like for the PS5, but it seems like a good bet that there will be a summer event for the company.

In the meantime, God of War is rumored for a PC release, but it's possible that Sony is holding off on releasing it until there's a larger marketing push for the sequel. There has been an awful silence regarding the second half of 2021 for Sony's first-party line-up, so it seems likely that fans can expect to hear more sooner rather than later. Beyond God of War: Ragnarok, Sony hasn't really announced any other first-party games, so it'll likely be time to start hearing more about some other titles from other studios as well.

Details are still scarce regarding the next entry in the series, as Sony hasn't offered up even a crumb of information, but the last game left fans with a lot of clues to chew on. It was heavily rumored that Red Dead Redemption 2 actor Roger Clark would play Thor in God of War: Ragnarok, but the actor has openly denied it and claimed that the rumor stemmed from him simply sharing industry job listings on social media. Nonetheless, the God of Thunder is expected to appear in God of War: Ragnarok, though it's not clear if he will be an antagonist or an ally to Kratos and his son.
