The Bachelor: Disastrous Hometown Dates That Will Never Be Forgotten

During The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, hometowns are something that have become a staple. This is the part of the show that many people hope to make it to so that the lead man or woman can meet their family. Despite a lot of the contenders hoping to make it to this part of the show, only the final four contestants will get that hometown date where the lead travels to the contestants hometown for a date and gets to meet the family. Although many hope to make it to hometowns, that doesn't mean that the date always goes well, making for some pretty awkward moments on the show.

During hometown dates, the contestants get to plan a date for the lead that they are vying for in their hometown. The bachelor/bachelorette don't know what is planned for the day, besides meeting the family at the night portion of the date. Although the lead is excited to meet the families, there have been a few times where the hometown date was just plain horrid. Here are a few of the most cringe-worthy hometown dates.

During this hometown date on The Bachelor 24, Victoria Fuller took lead man, Peter Weber, to her hometown of Virginia Beach, Virginia. During the day portion of the date, Peter was left surprised when his ex-girlfriend crashed the date, warning him that Victoria was the reason that several marriages had ended in the town. What made the date even more awkward was that Peter didn't even get to meet Victoria's family as the pair fought outside of the home. Despite this, Victoria still received a rose during the next rose ceremony.

During this hometown date on The Bachelor 17, Sean went to Desiree's hometown of Los Angeles. There, the two went hiking before going to meet Desiree's family. During the family portion of the date, Sean met her parents and brother for dinner, where he got along with her parents. It was Desiree's brother that made this date a bit uncomfortable after he called Sean a "playboy" directly to his face, offending the lead. Although Desiree apologized for her brother's behavior, she was sent home at the next rose ceremony.

When it was time for Cassie's hometown date during The Bachelor 23, Colton took a trip to Huntington Beach, California. During the day portion of the date, Cassie gives him a surf lesson before going to meet her family. When the couple arrived to meet the family, things only took a turn for the worse when Cassie's father, Matt, refused to give Colton his blessing to propose. Even without her father's blessing, Cassie received a rose, but quit the competition the next week due to her family's opinions. This left Colton visibly upset and despite quitting, he did not want to let go of Cassie. The pair agreed to date and were together for over a year before breaking up in May 2020.

Although these hometown dates on The Bachelor were some that the viewers will never forget, there are many that viewers will not be able to forget for good reasons. It all comes down to how the family reacts to the bachelor that makes or break for an awkward or pleasant hometown date.
