PlayStation Store End Of Year Sale Has Big PS4 Game Discounts
The PlayStation store's end of the year sale is now live, and it has some big discounts for some of the most popular PS4/PS5 titles. The sale began today, and runs through December 22, with discounts that span the last generation as some players begin to see what the PS5 is capable of.
End-of-year sales are incredibly common on stores everywhere, including the PlayStation store. However, this time around, there are some serious heavy hitters for sale, including some long-standing fan favorite PS4 titles. This could prove incredibly beneficial for PlayStation 5 owners who are finding themselves with a lack of games to play, as the PS5 has backwards compatibility for many (if not all) of the games on sale. There are sales all throughout the year on the PlayStation Store, but this is one of the biggest of the year and will probably be the best time to buy new games for the next several months.
The official PlayStation blog announced the sale, as well as just a few of the many titles on sale for the next three weeks. Some standouts include Assassin's Creed Origins, Assassin's Creed Odyssey (either separately or combined in the Antiquity pack for 75% off), Red Dead Redemption 2: Ultimate Edition (65% off), Dead by Daylight: Special Edition (60% off), and God of War – Digital Deluxe Edition (33% off, although the blog post notes, "this title will leave the promotion early on Monday 14th December").
Other standouts include the Far Cry New Dawn Collection, which includes both Far Cry 5 and the deluxe edition of Far Cry New Dawn, for $24.99 instead of the usual $99.99. Again, most (if not all) of these games can be played on the PlayStation 5 as well so if any PS5 owners want something to play (and assuming they have the SSD space), now could be the time to pick up a critically acclaimed game.
Holiday and end-of-year sales are typically the best times for players to pick up a game they may have had their eyes on for a while, or even take a flyer on something new. Between the online store sales and the various Black Friday deals around, there are plenty of chances for players to add to their gaming backlogs. Unfortunately, if they are in the market for a new PlayStation 5 to play said games on, then they might be out of luck until next year, as Sony says that shortages of the new console aren't expected to be resolved until the spring of 2021.
