What’s a movie you’ve always heard good things about, but you didn’t enjoy when you watched it?

The title says it all. I’ve had multiple movies explained to me as if they were a masterclass of cinema, but on watch I simply did not enjoy them whatsoever.

A film in particular that I just got finished watching is “Eraserhead.”I’ve heard many many opinions that “Eraserhead” is a masterpiece and transcends cinema, but on my watch I found absolutely no enjoyment in the movie. I get it’s an “art” movie, but that’s not an excuse to give absolutely no semblance of cohesive narrative and loose meaning that is very interpretive by design. It seems to go from one empty scene filled with disturbing imagery to the next. The characters aren’t interesting either. Henry? No he has little dialogue considering he’s supposed to be the main protagonist and the dialogue he does have makes him out to be a timid pushover. You can achieve thought provoking art while maintaining a cohesive and gripping narrative. An example of this is a movie that came out almost a decade before “Eraserhead” in “2001: A Space Odyssey”. Stanley Kubrick fills this move to the brim with subtle interpretive imagery, but still managed to create a thought-provoking, captivating story which is something I believe Lynch failed to do.
