Earlier this week, the comic book movie world was rocked by the news that Michael Keaton would be returning to the role of Batman for Ezra Miller’s upcoming film, The Flash. Michael Keaton of course played Batman in the two live action films Tim Burton films before leaving the role alongside the director after Batman Returns. It is currently unknown just how big of a role that Michael Keaton’s Batman will play in the upcoming film.

The upcoming Ezra Miller film, The Flash, is said to be based in part on the 2011 comic, Flashpoint, which started the New 52 reboot. Bruce Wayne’s father, Thomas Wayne, played a big part in this story as that timeline’s version of Batman. The popular theory is that, instead of bringing in Thomas Wayne for this story, The Flash will instead use Michael Keaton’s Batman for the part instead. The film is still a few years out but it seems that one fan was eager to imagine what this meeting would look like.

In a recent post, digital artist Jaxson Derr gave us an image that showed an older Michael Keaton meeting Ezra Miller’s Flash in his classic, 1989 outfit. You can see the full image below:

What did you all make of this news when you heard it? Are you glad to hear that Michale Keaton will, at long last, be reprising his role as Batman? How big of a part do you think he will have in Ezra Miller’s The Flash? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script written by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson, The Flash will be inspired by the Flashpoint comic storyline which followed The Flash as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kuber, Flashpoint radically altered the status of the DC Comics universe and led to the launch of the New 52 titles. It is currently unknown how much inspiration the upcoming Ezra Miller film will take from the comic.

The Flash is set to hit theaters on June 3rd, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on The Flash and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more exclusive video content.
