Invictus: An overlooked movie

I've never heard anyone speak of this movie, but it's one of the most wholesome and inspiring movies ever made. Mandela spent 27 years in prison and came out ready to forgive and unite all of South Africa. It's a spectacular movie combining not just the emotions of bitterness and hatred of apartheid, but also the unification of a people through inspiring leadership, symbolism, sports and the act of overcoming great odds.

Morgan Freeman plays a very believable Mandela and Matt Damon really comes off as a great team captain. Overall the movie has a great cast.

Clint Eastwood as director used so many small and seemingly insignificant moments to convey just how difficult overcoming the past was for the people. While the difficulties of South Africa wasn't overcome as the movie may suggest it is important to note that the movie is about forgiveness and unification. South Africa and Mandela is perfect for telling such a story.

If you ask me the movie deserved an Oscar, but it's still something to be proud of that they were nominated twice for Best Leading and Supporting role.
