V-Wars & October Faction Canceled After One Season At Netflix

Netflix has called it quits on two shows after only one season. It has been announced that the streamer has canceled V-Wars and October Faction.

V-Wars starred Ian Somerhalder and was based on Jonathan Maberry’s bestselling book. The series starred Somerhalder as Dr. Luther Swann, who enters a world of untold horror when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend, Michael Fayne, into a murderous predator who feeds on other humans. As the disease spreads and more people are transformed, society fractures into opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these “vampires.” Somerhalder also served as a director on the series and even though this project is done, Netflix is still looking to be in business with him on other projects.

October Faction was based on the IDW comics by Steve Niles and followed monster hunters Fred (J.C. MacKenzie) and Deloris Allen (Tamara Taylor) who, after the death of Fred’s father, return to their hometown in upstate New York with their teenage children. As the family adjusts, Fred and Deloris must hide their identities as members of a secret organization, and our heroes quickly discover that their new small-town setting isn’t as idyllic as it seems.

Netflix didn’t give an official reason as to why the shows were canceled but I’m assuming they just didn’t gain traction with subscribers so the streamer simply cut their losses. The news of the cancellations come after they renewed Locke & Key for a second season.
