Joe Exotic Told TV Host He'd Shoot Him if He Was Lion's Prey

Joe Exotic told a TV host he'd shoot him if he was ever dragged into a cage to be a lion's prey. Joe made it clear numerous times that he would shoot a human before he ever shot one of his tigers.

Tiger King was the Netflix documentary that surrounded the murder for hire story behind Joe Exotic. The Oklahoma native's unsuccessful plot was shrouded in mystery as Joe Exotic tried to kill his arch-nemesis by giving a worker $3,000, a new cell phone and a fake ID to get to Florida.

The man behind the show, Joseph Maldonado-Passage, illegally sold lion cubs. During the documentary, he was also rumored to have shot his surplus of tigers to free up cage space. Joe Exotic and his rival Carole Baskin were in a feud for years, which resulted in heated video clips about killing Baskin and massive lawsuits. Viewers watched as somehow Joe Exotic convinced two straight men that they were in love with him and marry him while all were addicted to drugs. The TV personality even hinted that Baskin killed her first husband and fed him to her tigers so she could take his millions.

The larger than life personality has appeared in a U.K. documentary, according to Newsweek, before the Netflix hit by Louis Theroux called America’s Most Dangerous Pets. The U.K. show toured the biggest collections of tigers in America and Joe Exotic was one of the local stops. Viewers in Australia and BBC can watch the old documentary on BBC iPlayer. But in the U.S., it is harder to find. Viewers will not be able to see Theroux’s work, as America’s Most Dangerous Animals are not viewable unless you search for it on YouTube.

Their fans can watch snippets of the entire show where the director asked what would happen if he were to be attacked by one of Joe’s lions. The self-proclaimed “gay, gun-toting cowboy with a mullet” answered that if one of his tigers wanted to get him, the animal wouldn’t kill him right away. He said it “would torment you,” continuing on to say the tiger would stand over him, claiming him as prey with Joe adding that he would just “shoot” the director as it “would be more humane because I’m not getting you back.”

Fans cannot get enough of the eccentric show. Joe Exotic was just sentenced back in January to 22 years in prison for numerous wildlife violations. Many wondered how parents thought it was safe to bring their children to his wildlife zoo, as one of their workers lost an arm whilst feeding a tiger. Even though Joe Exotic will be away in jail for a very long time, fans are hoping there will be some sort of follow up as the Netflix documentary has been at the top of the charts for most binged shows during isolation.
