Batman v Superman: Zack Snyder Announces Director Commentary Live-Stream
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is getting a new live-stream and commentary hosted by director Zack Snyder. The second installment of Snyder's original five-part DCEU arc is a major source of controversy, but has maintained a strong fanbase and has only grown in relevance in the four years since it hit theaters, maintaining its place as a major talking long after its theatrical debut.
While Snyder's DCEU arc was ended prematurely, his influence on the characters has still held a major impact, especially since both Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa were cast by him, and their solo films have gone on to be immensely popular. Ben Affleck says he's moved on from Batman and Cavill's Superman future is in limbo, but both iterations of their respective characters still have strong support from fans.
Thanks to the continued support for the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League, Snyder has a strong following of DC fans who put together a charity live-stream for the recent four year anniversary of Batman v Superman. During the live-stream (and as of this writing), fans raised over $1,800 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (Snyder's preferred charity) and $1,435 for Feeding America (a charity supported by Ben Affleck). At the end, a special video from Snyder revealed his plans to live-stream Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Ultimate Edition from his preferred social media platform, Vero, and include a director's commentary on the making of the movie. The live stream will happen tomorrow, Sunday, March 29, at 8 am PDT.
Snyder's Watchmen Director's Cut commentary is well regarded by fans and there has been a persistent demand for him to record a director's commentary for Batman v Superman, since its release, so this reveal is certain to excite any fans of his work. Due to the controversial nature of BvS, especially regarding Snyder's explanations for his story decisions, it will likely draw interest from Snyder's detractors, too. There's certainly a lot to cover, especially when breaking the movie down minute by minute.
Since everyone is in social isolation due to the worldwide spread of coronavirus, watch parties of this nature have become quite popular, but Snyder's live-stream and commentary for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice might be the biggest movie/director combo to announce a watch party yet. Given his followers' penchant for trending events on social media, it's sure to make a lot of noise and give fans (and haters) even more fuel for the never-ending Batman v Superman debate.
