Captain Marvel 2 Can Better Explain What She Was Doing During Endgame

Captain Marvel played a big role in Avengers: Endgame, helping the rest of the heroes fight Thanos and his armies, but her absence during most of the film wasn’t explored – and Captain Marvel 2 can fill in all those blanks. The first wave of films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, collectively known as the Infinity Saga, came to an end in 2019 with Spider-Man: Far From Home, which offered a glimpse at life post-Iron Man and final snap following the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Life at the MCU will continue with the introduction of new characters like the Eternals and Shang-Chi, as well as the return of well-known heroes, such as Doctor Strange and Captain Marvel. Carol Danvers made her big screen debut in 2019, in a story set in the 1990s which also served to answer some questions about the MCU (though it also created a couple of plot holes). Carol returned in Avengers: Endgame, where she rescued Tony Stark and Nebula and helped the surviving heroes confront Thanos, but after the five-year time jump, she left and came back until the third act of the film.

Related: Captain Marvel's Biggest MCU Retcons (& Plot Holes)

Carol arrived just in time to help all the superheroes and allies during the battle against Thanos, but Avengers: Endgame never explained what she was up to before she came back – luckily, this can be addressed in Captain Marvel 2.

Once Thanos was killed by Thor at the beginning of Avengers: Endgame, the story jumped five years into the future, with the world still trying to adapt to life without half the population. By then, Carol was still part of the Avengers, though she wasn’t working on Earth with the rest. Instead, she was monitoring other planets that were still recovering from the snap. After that holo-conference, Carol wasn’t seen again in the film until the Battle of Earth, where she (conveniently) arrived just in time to avoid a major catastrophe that would have killed many of the MCU heroes, including fan-favorite Spider-Man. Carol crashed through the Sanctuary II and later helped get the Nano Gauntlet to safety. Once the battle was over, Carol appeared at Tony Stark’s funeral, and it’s unknown what she did next.

Captain Marvel 2 can not only show what Carol’s next mission in the post-Endgame universe will be but it can also take some time to explain where and what exactly she was doing before she came back to fight in the Battle of Earth. The film can show Carol on some of the planets she was helping, which would not only reveal how other planets and races were dealing with the snap but also how she established relationships with them, which can come in handy in this or future stories. How exactly she helped other planets is also a mystery, which can be answered in Carol’s upcoming solo adventure. While Avengers: Endgame was an exciting event and finally brought all the heroes in the MCU together, it also left a lot of questions unanswered, which will hopefully be addressed in some of the upcoming films.

Supernatural's Worst Rated Episode Is The First Spinoff Pilot

Supernatural's most disliked episode was, strangely, the long-running fantasy series' first backdoor pilot for a spinoff. The main Supernatural series is currently in the process of wrapping up Sam and Dean Winchester's story after an epic 15 season run. With God as the final villain, the Winchesters have their backs against the wall, and fans are eagerly waiting to discover the fates of the brothers before Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki move on to pastures new.

Supernatural's legion of loyal followers across the world might not feel the show's ending so keenly if there was a spinoff series currently airing that could cushion the blow, but it's not for want of trying. The CW have shown tremendous faith in Supernatural over the years and have made several attempts to capitalize on the show's fandom with a spinoff series, failing on each occasion. The first effort came with season 9's "Bloodlines" and would've moved the action from rural America to the bright lights of Chicago, where families of vampires, werewolves and other assorted monsters were involved in a mafia-style turf war. The idea was never developed into a full series, but Supernatural valiantly tried again in 2018 with "Wayward Sisters," once again hitting a dead end.

Related: Supernatural Season 15 Features BOTH Sam and Dean's Real Life Wives

Unless Supernatural drops the ball massively within the handful of remaining episodes, the show's official lowest-rated episode, according to IMDB (via Reddit), will go down as "Bloodlines." Due to its episodic structure, Supernatural's episode ratings do have a tendency to vary wildly, but "Bloodlines" is the only episode to drop below a 6/10 score in Sam and Dean's history, coming in at a slightly-above-average 5.8. Many fans cite the distinct shift in tone for the failure of "Bloodlines," with very few elements from the main series crossing over. However, it might also be fair to say that the monster mafia concept came off a little corny, lacking the lighter edge that Sam and Dean's adventures usually employ to counterbalance the paranormal madness.

This unenviable honor is perhaps a sign of how badly misjudged "Bloodlines" was in hindsight. Not only did the episode fail to inspire calls for an entire spinoff series, but it didn't even work as a single, standalone story. The lack of focus on the central trio of Sam, Dean and Castiel can bear some responsibility, but since other Winchester-lite offerings have fared much better, the lion's share of the blame must surely rest upon the core idea of a Bloodlines spinoff. The low rating also highlights the range of more attractive options Supernatural had as potential spinoffs (such as the Ghost Facers or Garth's werewolf family) that would've incorporated more familiar characters.

Indeed, The CW used one such idea with its second backdoor pilot, "Wayward Sisters." Based around Jodie and her band of female orphans and strays, Wayward Sisters was billed as a static spinoff that would combine the usual hunting action with the drama of a surrogate family. The "Wayward Sisters" episode enjoyed a far brighter reception than "Bloodlines," and currently holds a sold 8.4 rating on IMBD, but the option to green-light a whole series wasn't taken and, unlike before, this caused disappointment among fans. If The CW ever decide to revisit producing a spinoff when Supernatural finally comes to a close, they'd surely find a willing audience... just not with Bloodlines.

Star Wars: Rey Force Chokes Kylo Ren In Rise of Skywalker Concept Art

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker concept art depicts Rey Force choking Kylo Ren during a lightsaber duel. A few months after its theatrical premiere, the film is making another wave of headlines thanks to tie-in materials connecting to its home media release. Fans have already parsed through the movie's official novelization, which (rather infamously) contained lots of additional information that cleared up some of the movie's more polarizing plot points - such as Emperor Palpatine being a clone. Another book that's sure to be of interest for viewers is The Art of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which contains concept art from the film's development and behind-the-scenes tidbits.

The expectation is the Rise of Skywalker art book won't feature anything as revelatory as Rey's father being a failed Palpatine clone, but it should still make for a fun read. If nothing else, die-hard fans will find it fascinating looking at the various illustrations, some of which paint a very different picture than what was in the final film. Today saw images like a Resistance tank modeled after BB-8 and an alternate Last Jedi costume for Luke. Another highly intriguing "what-if" spotlights Rey and Kylo Ren in the midst of another conflict.

Related: Star Wars Fans Will Forgive Rise of Skywalker Quicker Than The Prequels

One of the drawings in The Art of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker features Rey Force choking Kylo Ren as she clutches a green lightsaber. The scene takes place in Kylo Ren's throne room, as the art team was working on possible designs for the room and what kind of interaction he might have with Rey there. Check out the concept art in the space below:

Per the book, this drawing was made "prior to any sort of art department overview" of the film's main story. This means at that stage in the developmental process, the artists didn't know what director J.J. Abrams and his co-writer Chris Terrio had in mind for The Rise of Skywalker. They were just bouncing ideas around and coming up with a wide range of concepts - knowing Kylo would likely have a personal throne room since he was the First Order's new Supreme Leader. So, the illustration shouldn't be taken as evidence this was under serious consideration for a plot beat in the movie. Nevertheless, it's certainly an attention-grabbing work that would have been very interesting to see onscreen. It symbolizes how strong Rey's grown since The Force Awakens and the dangerous line she's walking as she continues her journey.

Though this particular piece of concept art was completed before the art department had a greater understanding of The Rise of Skywalker, but it did prove to be somewhat prophetic. Rey and Kylo Ren had a lightsaber duel that - partially - took place in the latter's throne room via their Force connection (alternating between Kylo's chambers and Kijimi). Additionally, Force choking is an ability most associated with the dark side, and The Rise of Skywalker did reveal Rey was Emperor Palpatine's granddaughter - meaning the dark side is in her blood. That's one possible explanation for why Rey was able to use Force lightning in the film, so it wouldn't have been a leap if she Force choked someone.

Trailer: Gerard Butler vs. Comet In “Greenland”

While the coronavirus pandemic has stopped many things, it hasn’t stopped Gerard Butler making action films with the trailer released today for his new apocalypse-themed film which is basically his riff on “Deep Impact”.

In the film, a family struggles to survive when a comet drops fragments on the Earth. John Garrity (Gerard Butler), his separated wife Allison (Morena Baccarin) and son Nathan embark on a perilous journey to their only hope of safety as cities around the world are leveled and both panic and lawlessness grows around them.

Scott Glenn, Andrew Bachelor, and David Denman co-star in the film which was originally going to be a Neill Blomkamp-directed and Chris Evans-led affair. Both dropped out and now its Butler re-teaming with his “Angel Has Fallen” director Ric Roman Waugh.

The film remains set for theatrical release on June 12th in the U.S., though will most likely find its big success on video-on-demand whenever it decides to launch.

Geoff Johns Hints At The Flash & Green Lantern Appearances In ‘Stargirl’

Brec Bassinger Stargirl DC Universe The CW Crisis On Infinite Earths Justice Society S.T.R.I.P.E. Geoff Johns Coronavirus Green Lantern The Flash

Brec Bassinger Stargirl DC Universe The CW Crisis On Infinite Earths Justice Society S.T.R.I.P.E. Geoff Johns Coronavirus Green Lantern The FlashGeoff Johns teased that we could eventually see major Justice Society of America members like The Flash and Green Lantern in Stargirl.

The Justice Society of America is about to play a big role in DC Universe and The CW’s upcoming Stargirl series. We’ve know Starman and Mid-Nite will appear in the series, but what about the prominent members of the superhero team like Jay Garrick’s The Flash and Alan Scott’s Green Lantern?

In the most recent Stargirl trailer, we do see a photograph of the JSA, which includes a glimpse at The Flash and Green Lantern. In a recent interview with IGN, series co-creator Geoff Johns had this to say about The Flash and Green Lantern potentially appearing in Stargirl:

“[Green Lantern and Flash] are spoken of and they exist in the JSA. There’s a picture of them in the first episode, and there’s plans in the future for things, but Jay Garrick and Alan Scott, to me, are always the elderly statesmen. They’re the big heroes of the JSA and their shadow is very long and they’re great characters. They are a part of the original JSA and their legacies will be felt throughout the show. I don’t want to spoil too much about it, but I can leave it at that.”

Who would you like to see play The Flash and Green Lantern in Stargirl? Feel free to share you casting choices in the comments below!

Here is the official synopsis for Stargirl:

High school sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new DC Universe series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a fun, exciting and unpredictable series premiering in 2019, produced by Warner Bros. Television, Mad Ghost Productions and Berlanti Productions.

Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitemore, Joel McHale as Starman,  Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan, and Meg DeLacy as Cindy Burman. Geoff Johns will write and executive produce the 13-episode first season of Stargirl while Sarah Schechter and Arrowverse boss Greg Berlanti will also serve as executive producers on the series.

Stargirl is scheduled to premiere on DC Universe on May 18, 2020, before airing on The CW on May 19 at 8:00 p.m. ET.

‘Normal People’ Trailer: The Director of ‘Room’ Heads to Hulu with a Forbidden Romance

Normal People trailer

Since directing Brie Larson to an Oscar win in 2015’s Room, Irish writer/director Lenny Abrahamson has been fairly quiet, directing only a couple episodes of a TV series called Chance and a single feature, the 2018 horror mystery The Little Stranger, which starred Domhnall Gleeson. Now Abrahamson has returned to his home country as one of the two directors of Normal People, a new Hulu co-production with the BBC which focuses on two young lovers from Ireland who find themselves on opposite sides of a class divide. Check out the trailer below.

Normal People Trailer

Is it hot in here, or is it just me? Man, this show looks sexy. I know the whole “Romeo and Juliet” dynamic is a little played out, but author Sally Rooney’s best-selling novel, which serves as the basis for the show, was critically acclaimed, so I suspect there’s more going on here than what we see in this trailer. Normal People will reportedly consist of twelve half-hour episodes, with Abrahamson tackling the first six and Hettie Macdonald (Doctor Who, Howards End) directing the final six. Rooney is serving as a writer on the series, along with Alice Birch (Lady Macbeth, Succession) and Mark O’Rowe (Boy A).

Daisy Edgar-Jones (2019’s War of the Worlds TV series) stars as Marianne, and Paul Mescal (Bump) plays Connell, the two friends/lovers at the center of the story, and the production hired real students who were attending Dublin’s Trinity College to participate in the show. (I visited Trinity College’s campus a couple of years ago to check out the world-famous Long Room in its Old Library; you can see it at the :54 mark in this video.) It’s fitting that the world “normal” is in the title, because this looks like one of the most normal, traditional things Abrahamson has been involved with in years. (And I wouldn’t exactly say that the guy who made Frank and Room is super concerned about directing traditional projects.)

Here’s the show’s official synopsis:

Based on Sally Rooney’s best-selling novel, Normal People is an exquisite, modern love story about how one person can unexpectedly change another person’s life and about how complicated intimacy can be. It follows Marianne and Connell over several years, as they embark on an on-again/off-again romance that starts at school and continues through college, both testing their relationship as they explore different versions of themselves.

Normal People premieres on Hulu on April 29, 2020.

Bachelor: Colton Reveals He And Cassie Broke Up In New Memoir

Although Colton Underwood chose Cassie Randolph at the end of his season of The Bachelorit hasn't been all smooth sailing for the couple since the series ended. In his new bookThe First Time, Colton revealed that he and Cassie actually broke up briefly in August of last year.

Colton's relationship with Cassie was one of the most unique in Bachelor history. While their romance took the typical Bachelor course for the majority of the season, things went off the rails when Cassie's dad arrived and convinced her that she wasn't ready for an engagement. When she self-eliminated from the show, Colton fell apart, leading to the infamous fence jump where he literally ran away from The Bachelor production team. When he finally calmed down, he decided to end the show and pursue only Cassie, sending his other two finalists home. At the end of the season, Colton and Cassie didn't get engaged but agreed to continue dating. Rumors of their breakup swirled around constantly, but apparently the rumors had some basis in fact in the second half of 2019.

Related: Bachelor: Chris Harrison Congratulates Ben Higgins On Engagement To Jessica Clarke

In his new memoirThe First Time, Colton revealed that he and Cassie broke up in August of last year (via People). He said, "To put it very frank, after the show, we realized we weren’t communicating as well as we once did. Nobody was forcing us to talk about real things going on, so we let a lot of things build up.” Underwood went on to explain that he was the first to ask for space to figure things out, though Cassie ultimately agreed that the couple needed some time away from each other. Their breakup, however, was short-lived. Within just a couple of days, Colton explained that the pair started missing each other and agreed to get back together. Colton explained, "It was a very real and very emotional breakup." He continued, "But it was also very good to be real and emotional because it forced us to have conversations and move on. Now, we know the flags to look for. When issues start to creep up, it’s like, let’s go have a conversation. We’re trying to be more transparent and honest and really trust each other."

Despite their past problems, Colton seems hopeful for a future with his girlfriend. After discussing their past issues he turned his attention towards what lies ahead. Colton talked about his future with Cassie, saying,"We talk and we plan and we have so much hope." He continued, "If she were here, she’d nudge me for saying this, but I think an engagement is something we’d both like to see this year. No matter what, I don’t want my life without her. Our relationship hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been worth it."

Colton and Cassie's rough patch isn't particularly surprising. Even on the show, fans could see that their communication skills were lacking, which is what lead to Cassie's dramatic decision to self-eliminate from The Bachelor competition. Despite their problems, however, the couple seems stronger than ever. Cassie is currently caring for Colton as he recovers from his coronavirus symptoms on the third floor of her family house. While no one can be sure what the future holds, we'd be happy to see an engagement from this Bachelor Nation couple.

What Ratatouille's Antagonist Looks Like In Real-Life Shown in TikTok Video

What Ratatouille’s antagonist looks like in real-life has been revealed in a TikTok video. The 2007 animated film from Disney and Pixar found considerable success upon its release, particularly in France, where the story of a rat's journey into the world of restaurant cuisine is set. Nominated for several Oscars and winning the trophy for best animated feature, Ratatouille didn’t have the same impact as more recent Disney efforts, failing to even crack the top five highest-earning Pixar films. Yet the story of lowly garbage boy Alfredo Linguini (Lou Romano), who works at famed Parisian restaurant Gusteau’s still managed to find receptive audiences around the world. They were especially charmed by a very special rat called Remy (Patton Oswalt).

In some ways, Ratatouille is part of an era of Disney filmmaking that no longer exists – a critically acclaimed film with worldwide recognition and accolades to match, yet which failed to hit the billion dollar mark at the global box-office. Today it seems even Disney films with middling reviews manage to reach a billion dollars. Nonetheless, Ratatouille has made its mark on pop culture and remains a favorite of many.

Related: Every Disney Movie Referenced In Pixar's Onward

As with many films, the most troublesome characters are often the most memorable ones. Voiced by the late Peter O'Toole, one of Ratatouille’s key antagonists is the ultra-fussy restaurant critic Anton Ego, who wants nothing more than to experience culinary excellence at all costs. The character is animated to perfection, arguably ranking as one of Disney’s all-time most memorable antagonists. Fans may have wondered what a live-action version of Ego might look like, but TikTok user Joe Mele has them covered. Thanks to the willingness of his father, Mele was able to transform him into the famed character. You can check out the full hilarious transformation (via First We Feast) below:

It must be said – the resemblance is uncanny. In fact, once studios resume their post-coronavirus regular work schedule, Mele’s father will likely have secured the vote of many Ratatouille fans to play Ego, should a live-action Ratatouille ever be made. Perhaps the most amusing thing about this video is how Mele’s father seems unwilling to go along with the transformation, but ultimately gives in. This behavior is a lot like Ego's. So far, there hasn't been any significant discussion surrounding the possibility of turning Ratatouille into a live-action film, but as with all things in Hollywood, one can never completely discount a project’s potential.

It's unlikely Mele’s father would be cast as Ego if Disney were to make a live-action Ratatouille. However, it does make Ratatouille fans think about the possibility of a live-action adaptation. What’s more, it has the ability to kick start numerous discussions regarding who would be perfect to play Ego, should Disney ever make the decision to bring this animated hit to life once more.

10 best workout games and fitness games for Android

Pokemon Go stock photo 7
It’s important to work out. It helps you maintain good health, keeps the pounds off, and makes you feel good. However, working out is also quite boring. You’re basically doing something over and over again for a long time for benefits you don’t see for weeks. A lot of people pass the time with things like music, podcasts, or working out with other people. However, some may want motivation with a little more engagement. We can help with that! Here are the best fitness games and workout games for Android!

For the record, there is actually a whole genre of fitness games for mobile that has nothing to do with the player working out. They are usually simulators of some sort where you build a skinny person into a bodybuilder or you build a gym or some such thing. This is not a list of those types of games. Every game on this list requires, or at least encourages, the player to work out.

More posts about fitness and exercise!

Achievement

Price: Free

Achievement isn’t actually game, but it does a decent job of motivating people to work out. The app basically pays you to do fitness stuff. You won’t be able to quit your job or anything, but you should get enough to occasionally spoil yourself with something. Basically, the app keeps track of your various stats and academics use it as source material for studies. Every time you log your stats, you get points. You eventually trade those points for prizes. Since there are prizes, this totally counts as a game. In any case, the app is free to download and use.

Burn Your Fat With Me

Price: Free / Up to $3.49

Who’s ready to get into the weird fitness games? Burn Your Fat With Me is a dating simulator with a fitness element. The game plays a lot like a Doctor Layton or Phoenix Wright game. However, instead of building cases or solving puzzles, you’re trying to burn fat. The player works their way through various in-game achievements such as doing 50 sit-ups in three minutes and those achievements progress the story. The visual novel and dating sim aspect is something you don’t see everyday. The one linked at the button below is for the fellas and there is a separate one for ladies as well. These are two of the weirdest fitness games we found. God bless Japan.

CycleCast

Price: Free trial / $9.99 per month / $89.99 per year

CycleCast is an interesting app if you have a stationary bike at home. It lets you basically take spin classes at home with real instructors, music, and other fun elements. The app includes over 800 cycling workouts in 20, 30, 45, and 60 minute increments. It’s not quite a game, but it alleviates the boredom of working out all by yourself with no interaction. There are several apps like this, including CycleGo, Arcade Fitness, and others that add a few game elements in from time to time. Peloton is also a popular option for stationary cyclists.

Fitness RPG

Price: Free to play

Fitness RPG is, at its core, a simple mobile gacha game. It has the usual stuff like turn-based combat, various heroes to play with, online PvP, and a story to play through. It even has an energy system to limit how much you play. However, you can overcome that limit by walking. The app doubles as a pedometer and gives you free energy to play the game as you walk. You can connect Google Fit or Fitbit to the app so it doesn’t have to count your steps. The game itself is a bit repetitive and not the most inspiring in the genre. Its pedometer function makes unique, though, and perfect for a list like this.

Pokemon Go and similar games

Price: Free to play

There are a number of augmented reality games that promote walking around to get stuff. The most popular of them is Pokemon Go. You go outside, walk around, spin Poke Stops for loot, fight other players at gyms, and catch Pokemon. You absolutely cannot play this game at home and you get more stuff the more you walk around. Niantic has a few other games if Pokemon isn’t your thing, including Harry Potter: Wizards Unite and Ingress. There are also other games in the genre, including Jurassic Park Alive and The Walking Dead: Our World. Here is a full list of them in case you want to know more.

More posts about Android app lists!

Walkr

Price: Free to play

Walkr is a hybrid of a fitness game and an adventure game. Players walk around and the game keeps track of the steps. It then uses those steps to move players around the game universe. The game has 50 planets to discover, various missions to complete, and a goal to help you reach 10,000 steps per day. The missions affect the game world so you kind of build things as you go. The game worked mostly fine during our testing, but some players filed complaints about the app not always registering steps.

Wokamon

Price: Free to play

Wokamon is a hybrid between a fitness game and a Tamagotchi style simulator. The concept isn’t much different from other games on the list. You walk a bunch of steps and it gives you in-game stuff. Players earn more Wokamons as they walk and that’s the center premise of the game. The energy they gain from our walking helps save their planet. In any case, it’s a cute little game with a surprisingly small amount of player interaction. You log in, take a walk, and then use the energy for in-game stuff and that’s about it.

Zombies, Run!

Price: Free / $3.99 per month / $24.99 per year

Zombies, Run! is a game for walkers, runners, and joggers. The game starts when you start your exercise and progresses as you cover more distance. There are over 300 total story missions to complete and many of them have you literally running away from a zombie horde and not finishing the level until you run far enough. It’s one of the original fitness games on mobile and its had a long time to mature. The subscription cost helps support the developer as they come out with new content. It’s relatively cheap compared to most fitness subscriptions, and we like that.

Zwift

Price: Free / Varies

Zwift is another cycling game for people with stationary bikes at home. This one is actually a game. You connect your device to Zwift and then quite literally race other players. There are over 1,000 structured workouts, various games, and some other stuff you can do. The upside is that it’s a lot more fun to race people than it is to bike alone. However, the downside is you do need some sort of sensor such as the Zwift Run Pod or a Wahoo RPM Cycling and Cadence Sensor to connect to the app. There are multiple products to choose from, but you do need one to use this app.

Fitness games on other platforms

Price: Varies

Mobile isn’t the best platform for this kind of stuff. There are a bunch of workout games for other platforms or, at least, games that get your blood pumping during regular game play. Some notable examples include Ring Fit Adventure, Just Dance 2020, and Fitness Boxing on the Nintendo Switch along with Beat Saber on the Oculus Rift and PS4. Of course, you have options like the old Wii Fit and plenty of others. If you own other video game systems, it’s worth Googling those platforms to see if there are any workout games for your consoles.
